Okay, save the "endangered" eagles. I think there are probably more now than in my memory?

Second, catch the unsupported blurb at the end about eagles eating lead bullets. I don't believe that either. I have watched raptors, not necessarily eagles, especially fish eating bald eagles, and they are very careful eaters. They pick a carcass clean, pretty much scrape all flesh from the bones. So, is it logical that they decide to eat lead left in the body? I think it's doubtful and I think a casual unsupported lie attributing lead poisoning to lead bullets is bullshit. Check it out.

We don't stand a chance with an agenda driven media.

I'll put money that more eagles are being killed by wind turbines than lead poisoning, OH BUT, wind turbines good, hunting and shooting, BAD!

After reading that, I get an image of eagles eating lead semi-wadcutters as a part of their protein diet…reporters are pretty dumb.

On a serious note, a couple of years ago, our Hunter Ed Advisory Committee here was given an advance presentation by Lloyd Fox, the Kansas Wildlife and Parks big game biologist on potential lead poisoning in raptors.

He had X-Rays of numerous critters shot with different projectiles. The lead in the critters glowed on the X-Rays. The most dramatic pic was that of a prairie dog eviscerated with a hollowpoint—the whole damn carcass glowed.

Even a deer shot through and through in the chest with a .50 cal. lead ball exhibited some lead spots in the chest cavity.

The greenies contend that raptors eat said chunks of prairie dog and deer entrails and then develop dangerous lead levels from the leftover flecks of lead. Hence, all of the lead-free varmint bullet offerings we see today, as well as some of the lead free big game bullets.

To me, it seems like another thing to hoist on the backs of sportsmen…now we poison eagles, hawks and owls with our activities.

Have they ever thought that the lead may come from water? Don’t know, but as long as they can beat the drum that this is an issue, we probably have to live with it.

TRn mentions an issue that is dear to my heart. I don't know about where you live, but certain places in California, wind turbines are a growth industry.

It is kept under wraps more than your grandmother's hooker past but, those things kill LOTS of birds, many protected species that you and I might pay a hefty fine and/or go to jail for killing. At night it's owls and bats. We aren't talking a couple here and there, it's high numbers but the ENVIRO NAZI's won't say a word because it's part of their fantasy world.

I read something about wind farms a while back that claimed in order to light up New York City, they would need to cover the entire state of Connecticut. Then you start factoring in the value of the land, and the variances of the wind and the Greenies can't understand what's wrong with their pipe dream?

Control freaks! I hate them!

The problem is, that the above statement would have us believe that hunters are the sole source of food for raptors. Unless we shoot prairie dogs, an eagle can't find it's own food. As far as I am concerned, they have a LONG ways to go before I accept lead bullets as a factor in contaminated carcasses. After they get their way on lead, I'm sure some sincere "impartial scientist" will tell us that copper is just as bad.

I think these people have an agenda and with Saul Alinsky's playbook, they are not above lying to achieve their goals. In fact, why tell the truth when lying is so effective. Anybody remember GLOBAL WARMING? And how it morphed into CLIMATE CHANGE?

Can't argue with climate change, the climate changes all the time but now we have to do something about it.

Anyway, where was I? Next thing you know, they will find lead in animals in Yellowstone Park where hunting has been outlawed for a hundred years. Don't just stand there! Do something about it!

On a related note, the Kansas Senate has decided to tell greenies and snake lovers to pack sand in their enviroweenie asses by recommending the appeal of the state's endangered species act and returning such matters to the auspices of the state's wildlife professionals rather than legislators and special interest groups.

Sadly, and ironically,... yes.

I have heard from several engineers at several power companies. I am inclined to believe them as this extra source of power would be beneficial to their pocket.

Wind powered turbines can produce supplemental energy when the wind is blowing. However, there is no way to store that energy so to support the demand of the grid, the plant continues to operate as though wind turbines are not there. It is impossible to start and stop the plant with changing winds.

Until battery or some other means of storing power catches up... Wind turbines are totally useless and do nothing to slow the emission of green house gases.

I am all for less pollution. I really doubt banning lead bullets and windmills are the answer. Ironically... Think of the power consumption used to run the lights that grows the dope they smoke. I bet there is a faction of those hipsters that only smokes naturally grown organic dope. My mind is wandering now.
