OK, on my "Excellent adventure" out west, I had a few Javelinas charge in on one stand. One grizzled ole fart dropped his head and gave me the stink eye, and I thought he was going to commit suicide by hunter.
Luckily I didn't have to shoot the farking ice hole, but he was a RCH from it.
So how many of you have been in this type of situation?

I've called in a few herds.
I generally just sit back and enjoy the show that they put on.
If they get too close for comfort, just stand up and say "HI, can you spare a moment to talk about your life insurance??"
They'll run off.
Neat critters who's ferocity is way overrated. As long as you don't corner one or reach down to grab one, there shouldn't be a problem.

Hogs & hawks are two good reasons to always have a camera on stand with you.

When they came to the call. I did stand up held my arms out and even spoke to the little rascal as I then adjusted my scope to 3 power and aimed my rifle at him.
That is when the critter squared off and dropped his head. He might have been clicking his teeth, I don't know, it was too windy to hear.

For me, they generally run, the other way. Maybe not a stampede, but they usually don't stay put, they leave. With mule deer, you really never know what they will do, and the range is from an orderly retreat to a full blown escape....unless they decide to come in, which might happen 15/20% of the time. I have not seen this with javelina, they don't stay put, they decide to leave right away. At least in my limited observation.

This is an interesting youtube video, Ive called them in like this many many times over the years while bow hunting. Run up to the 6:30 mark or so, and see one come in tight enough to make you pucker a bit.
last deer season, I was leaning against a lone mesquite trunk, looking over a grassy bench just above a big wash. The bench was maybe 100 yards across and 300 yards long and I was sishing I had a call and a proper rifle to call a coyote, just a perfect place.I notice movement straight across from me in the creosote. It was a lone old boar javelin. I lip squeaked few times, and he started my way. I kissed him in clear across the open, to literally at my boot toes with my legs out stretched, we both stared at each other a minute or so, I leaned forward and said "boo".....and he went about two feet in the air, spun and was gone, sure wished I had a camera.

Took this video a couple months ago. They were clear a cross a big wash from me, so there was no pucker factor. I have had them close enough to touch with a gun barrel. My experience is the same as the others...once they figure out you aren't what they thought you were, they split.

I was Javelina hunting down by ragged top . Walking up a wash in the cross-grained base saw some fresh sign gave a few toots on the old J-13 and here they come breaking through the brush first one turned at my feet literally and the second caught the bullet and dropped a few feet away. The rest scattered at the gun shot Good for an extreme pucker. My first time hunting the little buggers it was a thrill and a hunt I will never forget.

Came home with a freezer full, bad experience with the outfitter . Never ever do business with Keechi Creek Outfitters. I would rather have a box car shoved up my ass than return to that dishonest sumbitches operation. Fuck him with a capital F. I know I should forgive him but it ain't in my heart yet.

I was calling in Arizona on New Years Day about 8 years ago. I parked the truck and walked in about 250 yards to a wash. On the way in I got into a patch of sticker brush that grabbed onto my clothing making any progress difficult. I was so intent on just trying to make it through the brush I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. As soon as I got clear the sound of hooves stomping the ground startled me. I looked up to see about a half dozen Javelina leaving the scene. Trouble was there were 3 or 4 that decided to stay and watch me. One of them was about 4 ft from me. He was looking at me over his back and his hackles were raised. I stood stock still for a good 5 minutes. I had my 222 mag in my right hand and took the safety off just in case.
The ones about 20 yards out decided to move on and after they did the one that was close walked off, too.
At that point I was wondering if it was worth making a stand but since I worked so hard getting through the brush I decided I would go ahead and set up. I no sooner started calling and I had a big coyote come charging in. The caller was about 20 yards in front of me and the coyote came in and stuck his nose directly on it. He was facing away from me and I shot him high on the neck which caused him to leave a bloody nose print on the caller.
