Some of you may know that I host a couple of Wounded Warrior hunts every year. Through this I get to meet some real American heroes. This year was no exception. We had two great guys hunting and had a blast. One surprise of the deal was at a dinner party we had in honor of our WW hunters. I knew that another outfitter and good friend of mine was hunting with NFL hall of fame player John Riggins, so I invited them and my friend and World champion team roper Bobby Harris who's ranch they were hunting on. I was overwhelmed with the support and attitude of all of them, but especially Mr. Riggins. Talk about a true American. Spend a few minutes talking to him and you will see a possible glimmer of hope. He made damn sure that the party wasn't about him, and that the Wounded Warriors were the guests of honor. He is the one of the few pro athletes I have met that is on our side. A good guy for a change.

Let me guess; the Cajun prepared a large boil of fresh gulf shrimp, andouille sasuage, corn on the cob and new potatoes along with dirty rice?
I can taste it now.....man he puts on a feed!
He's a hoot to have around isn't he Cal? always grinning, happy and positive; just a damned fine man. Sounds like your hunt with the WW went very well...good on you.

Yep, Cajuns were in attendance and helped out greatly. Randy cooked exactly what Vic described for us the second night and it was great!

Cal,
Good for you helping out those guys! Riggo is a pretty cool dude and fellow Kansan. He grew up in NE Kansas in the little burg of Centralia.
Got to meet him in the late 80’s after he retired. He was the partner of a relative of mine in the oil business here in Central Kansas.
I am 6’3” and 230, and standing next to him at the time was very humbling. I can’t imagine suiting up in pads and trying to stop that guy…it’s no damn wonder he ran over as many people as he did.
I think he has mellowed a bit, as he was still pretty wild back then. He said that he was damn glad he was able to play football, as he didn’t think that he could have done anything else!

That's a good thing you guys do and it restores faith in human race.
Somewhere some place I hope you all get the just reward for doing it all.
It seems the Wounded Warriors tend to be the Forgotten Warriors real easy. They are the true American Hero!!!!
Riggins always reminded me of Billy Jack!

Yeah, Riggins has that image for me too. I think maybe he wore a hat on TV once with a flat brim.
As far as Billy Jack, the movie, some people were excited. meh
Good hunting. El Bee

He's the Diesel!!!
Billy Jack, I saw that when I was 12 or so, I thought it was pretty cool back then. That guy from WKRP was in it too.
