My oldest son came up from college for the weekend for a visit. We promised each other while he was here we would go fishing. So down to the local creek we go, and this is the very first fish he pulls out of the water. For a tiny creek this is one seriously nice brown trout!
 -

Not to be completely outdone I managed to land this rainbow a short time later. Man, fall colors of browns and rainbows have to be my favorite fall colors of all. [Wink]
 -

We then went on to catch a pile of fish. Most were sixteen inches or better. Here's a photo of what many of the browns looked like. While not the same size as the big one my son caught they are very respectable, especially fish for a tiny creek that I could walk across. You just have to love their vibrant fall spawning colors.
 -

We had so much fun we went back to town and got my youngest son so he could get in on the action. He's still not to sure about grabbing on to fish, but he sure did enjoy catching them.
 -

As the day wore down I just couldn't resist taking one last photo of my oldest son fishing, just before we called it quits, and headed in to town for the Homecoming football game. What a great weekend! Life is good.

Great photos and recap, man the oldest sure is a chip off the ol' block !

By far my favorite type of fishing is in streams like in your photos. I still remember about 13 years ago ? my daughter caught her 1st fish out of a stream like that way-way out in the high desert. Went about 16 inches and plump !

Not to mention some fine eating!!!!!!
Stream trout make lake stockers taste like karp-kabobs.

Thanks guys, it was a ton of fun. Oh and by the way all the fish in this creek naturally reproduce. They do not stock it.

Troy,
You don't look old enough to have a son that can grow a beard!! [Wink]

Darn nice looking fish and some great looking sons as well. What every dad and son should be doing right there!

So, spinning gear all around? The young guy looks like he used maybe a Panther Martin but what what the rest using? I really like Mepps spinners and Thomas Boyant and Kastmaster.

Good hunting. El Bee

Just used Panther Martins. I find they spin better in general. I've used a lot of Mepps over the years but they just don't seem to spin consistently for me. I also like to throw Rapala minnows at trout now and then, makes for some explosive action near the surface sometimes.
