Ok dudes, here's a fish story for ya!!!
This happened in last weekend's shark tournament. Out of respect for our buddies on the "Blinky" we kept quiet about this CRAZY debacle they found themselves in until they had a chance to tell their story. I knew it was only a matter of time before it spread like wildfire...
"Sharkin'" is usually 95% boredom, followed by 5% ballztodawall excitement!!! What happened to our buddies is definitely in that 5%...

TR, the article barely tells the whole story!
I happen to know all the details, seeing' as how we were only mile or so away and came over to help our buddies out when they called us on the VHF....
Here's a shot of the "Blinky" from our bridge. You can see the mako in the cockpit, streaked with green bottom paint...
Another shot, beam to, just after pulling the mako in the pit...

stories like that can really put into perspective how fast things can get outta hand.
being miles out in the ocean and having a crippled boat would litterally scare the shit outta me. how'd you place Fred??

Dave, this tourney was mako/thresher only, 80% 1st place 20% 2nd. We had a qualifying mako, but not big enough to place. There was a thresher batting our baits around with its tail, but it never would swallow one...that was frustrating as he!!
Our other buddys on the "Keri Lee" took 1st place and $63,000 with a 299# thresher. Considering that "Blinky's" mako weighed 292# after being mutilated by the props, that bad luck incident cost them alot more than a beautiful fish!
This is our mako, taken just before Blinky called us on the VHF for help...
