Is this country in the beginning stages of something?.......a breakup maybe?
GREELEY, COLO. – Officials in eight northern Colorado counties united in opposition to the state's new gun control laws and oil and gas regulations are reportedly considering forming a 51st U.S. state called North Colorado.
The Denver Post reports that a proposal to separate Weld, Morgan, Logan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington, Yuma and Kit Carson counties from the rest of the state was hatched at a meeting of county commissioners last week.
Weld County commissioners Sean Conway, Mike Freeman and Doug Rademacher said they will conduct public meetings and decide whether to draft a ballot measure by Aug. 1., according to a report in The Greeley Tribune.
The U.S. Constitution requires that Legislatures must first approve any state that is to be created within its jurisdiction.
Commissioners said Thursday that failed legislative efforts to crack down on oil and gas, as well as increases in rural renewable energy standards were "the straws that broke the camel's back."
Conway told the Tribune that Weld County's main economic drivers, agriculture and energy, are under attack, even though those sectors contribute significantly to the state's economy. He said the county's return on its financial contributions to the state are minimal.
Commissioners are also concerned about the lack of funding for infrastructure and education and believe the split would allow them to leverage financial investments from energy companies in the region, the newspaper reported.
Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., whose district would be included in the split, said in a statement last week that he is sympathetic to the commissioners' concerns and doesn't blame them for wanting to form a new state, The Tribune reported.
"The people of rural Colorado are mad, and they have every right to be," Gardner said. "The governor and his Democrat colleagues in the statehouse have assaulted our way of life, and I don't blame these people one bit for feeling attacked and unrepresented by the leaders of our state."
Gov. John Hickenlooper's spokesman Eric Brown said in a statement obtained by the paper that "background checks on gun sales, increasing renewable energy and supporting responsible development of oil and gas are popular with rural and urban voters."

As is the ability and right to address predator control issues proactively which was taken from rural Coloradoans in 1986 when recreational trapping was hamstrung. Having what rural folks can and cannot do dictated to them by the un- and misinformed in places like Denver and "the Springs" has been an ongoing problem for many years. More of the Obama legacy.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen. Northern Calif. has wanted to break away from the I-5 Corridor for a couple of decades now. The even picked the name Jefferson for their state to be. But............as long as San D, L.A. & the Gay Bay have the votes Northern Calif. will remain part of Calif.
I suspect that since Colorado is run by Denver, the same situation will apply there.

I just want to remind everybody that the problem is the majority voting to take away the rights of the minority. One of these days, I can see 51% of the population voting for atheism and demanding the 49% fall in line, or risk fines and imprisonment. And, they will undoubtedly tout the democratic process. This is how fucking Denver can tell the whole state of Colorado what they can do.
SUM TING WONG!

I agree with Koko, but I think there might be a chance for Colo. to get some control back in the future. Enough so to get this done I'm not sure. But for now, I still hold hope for this state. With the libs running rampant in the state Senate, passing all things on their "to do list to appease Libs.", there might be enough backlash coming down the pike, I hope.

the Liberals in Denver, will never let a group of conservatives govern themselves. Otherwise, they will lose control of those that need to be controlled

Yes, that's what it's all about. They won't be content unless they can CONTROL other people. This is why it's a mental illness.

The problem with a California split is it would have no impact. I suspect that is why it never happened......it just wouldn't make a dam bit of difference.
For example: If the state were to split you would have San Francisco in the north and Los Angeles in the south.....in effect, no change for the better. You would still be ruled by liberals.
From what I see, the geography of Colorado is much different. A split would leave no major liberal city to run the show in the north.
A split would be the perfect "fuck you" statement from conservatives towards liberals. I hope (pray) that it happens!
PS, did you hear there's a movement afoot to organize a million man armed march on Washington DC? I don't have all the details yet....only just heard about it in passing so as I get more info I'll post it. Now I just have to ask....what would be so bad in this country that a million men feel an armed march on Washington is called for?

Frank, I think I know what a Republic is. The problem is, as in California with the "Initiative" process, a bastard method of law making, narrow-minded total idiots can get enough signatures to get their pet project on the ballot.
They can claim mountain lions are endangered, without any proof whatsoever and make it an emotional issue, taking it out of the hands of the professional wildlife managers. One 30 second commercial the day before the election showing "orphan" kittens and logic doesn't stand a chance.
So, I guess you're right, all this stupid shit is Media driven. Proving, we are completely manipulated. HOPE AND CHANGE, motherfucker!
