Need to get two quads ready for off road use in Arizona.
I don't want to use any of the two on any public roads. Off road use only.
I will be going down to the DMZ in a week or so but just thought I would toss this out for the locals.

Best advice anyone could give is to go to the AZGFD website and familiarize yourself with OHV regulations, then comply with them. If you didn't leave yourself enough time, leave them home.

Jim. Thanks I'm in state and will be living here for a while now. I'm good at following the rules for off road use. Well I follow all off road rules regardless if I'm in a pickup truck or a quad.
The one rule about guns in a case is a bit of a drag sense I have my rig set up with gun racks.
I guess that could just be a safety suggestion as far as having you gun in a case so your less likely to crash your quad. None the less I will get it down.
I will be going down to the DMV in person before to long anyway.

No case law in this state, for any kind of vehicle.
To quote a line from Fast Times at Ridgemont High: "Read it, learn it, live it."
I saw that you mentioned one of the reservations...they can make their own rules, but follow state mandates for the most part.

Some sheriffs can be real chicken shit if they are having a bad day. People have been cited for simply crossing a road on a quad. Keep in mind main roads on Federal lands, even dirt roads regularly maintained, require a street legal ATV and a licensed driver. With that said, maintaining a quad in maricopa county is a real pain because you have to have it emission tested every year. One work around is for you to us a friends address out of the county as the garaged address. You keep the mailing address your home in Phoenix but simply say it is garaged say in Prescott. This eliminates the emission test requirement but you still get the renewal notice at you regular home address.
I am editing two more things into the discussion. You must have the OHV sticker on you quad reguardless if you register it for off road use only or make it street legal. Also, back in the old days before licensing ATVs, many owners either didn't get or didn't keep the Manufacturer Statement of Orgin. You must have this when you go to the MVD. Otherwise, registering your quad will be a PITA

NYS wants you to register ATVs. Ironically, ya can't ride em on almost all public State Lands though. Most guys I know don't bother registering them for that reason, but I still do mine. Mostly so I can carry insurance on it (just in case).
BTW, if they got handlebars, we call em "quads" or "bikes"...
