That would equal 54 of these tanks per state.

Since last year the Department of Homeland Security has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm.

DHS also purchased 2,717 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP).

The Department of Homeland Security (through the U.S. Army Forces Command) recently retrofitted 2,717 of these ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.

Although I’ve seen and read several online blurbs about this vehicle of late, I decided to dig slightly deeper and discover more about the vehicle itself.

The new DHS sanctioned ‘Street Sweeper’ is built by Navistar Defense (NavistarDefense.com), a division within the Navistar organization. Under the Navistar umbrella are several other companies including International Trucks, IC Bus (they make school buses), Monaco RV (recreational vehicles), WorkHorse (they make chassis), MaxxForce (diesel engines), and Navistar Financial (the money arm of the company).

Purchasing 2,717 light-armored tanks and the countless ammunition buys made by many different factions of the Government, it should come as no surprise that feds and local municipalities are preparing for something big.

This is something you see in a monster truck show, or a third world country.

But seriously what is this used for? Besides intimidation, the upcoming food riots or the arrest of bloggers like myself, I can’t really pin point many uses.

It’s not economical to chase speeders and write tickets in a tank, and I’m sure it’s not fiscally responsible to spend that kind of money on a tank when most States, Cities and County’s are broke.

I guess the only logical conclusion is it’s all for us! All 2,700 hundred plus tanks, the millions of rounds of ammo the Government is stockpiling, the drones patrolling the sky… Only to see our liberties being destroyed day by day.

PS...Don't forget! If you live in California you MUST register all long guns in 2014. If you fail to register your long guns you will be considered a felon!

Could be they are going to help assist the border patrol with there job as well as the DEA. Following up on drug smugglers and buyers and then putting them in jail..
Perhaps the trucks will be used south of the border also to put a end to the drug cartels..
Those trucks are set up for more of the southern climate than northern and I don't see them getting much use out of them dureing the winter month's up here.. In other words useless..
Ammo was mentioned, mostly handgun ammo.. Good for makeing drug busts and such but useless for anything on a larger scale.. Most home owners that have guns have rifles as well as shotties and so on, think they would have the same if they are planning on comeing after you guys... [Wink]

Good idea. makes them that much easier to find..

Was a show on T.V. tonight showing the H.L.S. assisting the border patrol on the Canadian/U.S. border. Border patrol would let a drug smuggler through and then Home-land security took over trailing them to where they was headed and then busting as many people as they could from mules to buyers...
But maybe thats just a start or a warm up for them. Perhaps they will move to the far western states and round up all the loony tunes... [Smile]
