Not hunting related, but we're shouting it from the roof tops. My alma mater, Kansas State University, is now #1 in the BCS standings at 10-0 after beating TCU last night. When I was going there, we were literally the worst team in all of college football. Bill Snyder started the year after I graduated and is often quoted as saying that the "opportunity for the greatest turnaround in college football history exists at K-State and should not be taken lightly." Coach was advised a few years back that he would be inducted into the college football Hall of Fame when he retired. He told them to hold that thought and came out of retirement to resurrect his team once again.
This season has extra special meaning for me as two of the young men on the starting offense played football with my son in high school here in Abilene and I know both of them... #14, Curry Sexton, and #55, Cody Whitehair. Sexton threw the 36 yard pass for my son's one and only touchdown in high school. We are not only happy for the Wildcat Nation and the school, but personally, we are so proud and happy for Curry, Cody and their families that they get to experience what is happening for them.

Good for K State & you Lance ! Last week i was rooting for K State over OSU . Several of my friends ask me "what the F***?", You are an OSU fan. I told them if Ok St. wins , it don't mean crap. If K State wins , it might be a Nat champonship. The A&M vs Ala game was the best football game (to me) that i have seen in ages.

Nice about the personal connection, but typical BCS BS. Not saying KSU doesn't deserve some accolades, but I think Oregon could ruin the day of plenty of NFL teams. Time will tell who deserves the #1 spot.

Suddenly Jimbo makes sense! (just kidding) Man, do I hate the BCS. I can't believe we got roped into a system run by computer weenies? Go back to coaches and sports writers, a play off system? but dump the friggin' BCS!
Good hunting. Lima Bravo

I don't know squat about football but it seems to me that the game would be a lot more interesting if instead of a pigskin football, they would use a live pig. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

There are no superlatives to be found in flyover country. Kansas must be recruiting in SoCal?

Barry Switzer use to offer Cheerleaders & Corvettes or Cadillacs depending on who the recruit was when he coached at OU.

Well the BCS boys are gonna' get exactly what they wanted..
Here's my guess. An overrated Notre Dame team vs Alabama in the BCS title game.
Bama crushes ND and we get to hear about the SEC dominance for another year.

Well, Baylor certainly came ready to play. K-State came battered, bruised, and apparently unaware of the term, "trap game". LOL Glad that we have a week off to recover.
We're number 5!!!! We're number 5!!! (Still better than 115+ other teams.)

Speaking of trap plays , K State had a couple of Madonna sized holes in their line yesterday. Oh well , ND & their billion dollar tv deal w/ NBC gets to be # 1 for awhile. And Oregon got their ass whipped also. Now we get the BCS shuffle.

We are so beat up right now. Zimmerman, our safety, suffered a high sprain in one ankle last week against TCU. Curry Sexton, one of the boys my son played with fractured a collarbone on his first reception of that game and Cody Whitehair, one of those big holes last night, played last weekend's game with a potent ear infection. I suspect he still wasn't a hundred percent last night and only saw him out there about a third of the game at left guard. It hurts when you lose a 300-pound first string lineman. That, and every team has a bad night. I don't doubt that everyone out there gave it their all. It just didn't work out. I'm a Wildcat, win or lose, so I still love 'em. I also remember what it's like to see your team manage an upset during a season where more things have gone wrong than right and I know how those Baylor folks feel today. Enjoy it. You played well.

Wanted to see what your thoughts were on this matchup, Lance, but I couldn't get here fast enough for the score to still be tied.

I've always wanted to see what a KSU-Oregon matchup would look like and it pretty much looked like what I'd envisioned. Those Oregon boys play a fast-paced game, for sure. They're very good and my hat is off to them. No excuses. We got beat.

K-State? Not too many. Snyder preferes to recruit from TX, OK and a lot of KS high schools and comm, colleges. We don't really have much for super studs on the team. It's always been just the right combination of ingredients to make things work. Arthur Brown transferred back from Miami and is from Wichita. What's his name, #3 (LOL, escapes me) is from the area and went to Oregon first but came back to KState. Three kids on there played for Abilene with Dal, as stated, Curry Sexton, his brother Collin and Cody Whitehair. Quite a few standouts from very small KS schools including several who played 8-man in high school. I've always said that you give Bill Snyder a truckload of greasy boxes containing random car parts and he'll build a Porsche.

Pretty typical, except for the one game they lost. The Ducks play for 2 or 3 quarters and then relax. They play so fast the officials can't keep up. I hope the Cardinals give Chip Kelly a good look.
