I have never fished in the fall before. I've always been too busy hunting to mess with it. However, this year I tagged out early and didn't know what to do with myself so I thought I'd give the creek that runs near my house a try. It was crazy good fishing. Almost rediculous for easy, but it was fun. Took my youngest son along in the morning and let him reel in a few. It was a good day. Here's a few pics.

My youngest with his first catch of the day.

A nice rainbow in the morning always brightens one's day.

My ugly mug, but hey, I'm having a really good time. [Big Grin]
 -

A couple nice browns ended the day. All in all I think I caught over 20 fish in about 3 hours. Missed probably half that many and had a nice relaxing day.

 -

Last fish of the day. He was nice one at 17" long.

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE Montana!

Ursus, or should I saw John Denver, I am happy for you that you live in that great state. I am kind of envious of you for living there as it is so beautiful. Nothing wrong with fishing in those pristine waters, and there won't be anything wrong with the table fare either.

Good hunting at ya. That is after good fishing.

Koko, I did the fly thing for a while and never could get "hooked" on it. I fish so little that I don't see it happening in my future either. Funny thing is there are 5 incredible trout streams within 20 minutes of my front door. I've only fished 3 of them in 6 years. As I get older and slow down a little I might get to the other two.

Jealous here. I drive 300 miles to get fish like that and hardly ever, a brown.

Good hunting. El Bee

Leonard try MT sometime...except it will ruin you for life. A couple years ago I was fishing on a creek around 15 minutes from here and I caught brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and a brookie. Pretty cool when a guy can get that kind of variety out of one little creek. None of these fish are planted all natural reproduction.

Here are a couple photos I took of my partner that day.

I think you can tell by the look on his face how life was for us that day. Pretty hard to get depressed in Montana.

You have a female admirer, ursus21. She, (a long time personal friend of mine), wants to know what town you live in? So do the rest of us.

Not too terrible far from Great Falls, but just far enough to enjoy small town living. I don't do well in places defined as cities.

No trout here, just bass, bluegill, moccasins, and big green lizards. [Frown]

Someday, though...someday, I'll live in Montana and fish and camp and hunt like I was meant to!

I'm jealous, but my wife was raised in Montana and refuses to go back. In Laurel. Ironically, I'd been recruited to come there to game warden at Miles City or Missoula and turned the offer down because my mom was dying at the time. Had I accepted one or the other, Lis and Im would likely have passed one another on I-70 or I80 going opposite directions. Life can be funny like that .
