A little background from the article:
“This is not a helpless guy in a wheelchair,” Bruno said of Jackson on Friday. “He had trashed his room in the public facility he was living in. He was taken forcibly to detox and alluded to the fact that he had a .38 pistol and a .45 pistol. He punched Officer Jouppi, disorienting him. He was a subject being subdued. He’s (Jouppi) got some concerns about him. The guy (Jackson), at a minimum, should have a disorderly conduct at the facility, probably a terroristic threat against detox staff and probably a fourth-degree assault against Officer Jouppi. He’s not exactly a sympathetic character as he’s being portrayed.” [ September 30, 2012, 04:55 AM: Message edited by: 4949shooter ]

quote: “a terroristic threat against detox staff”
WTF!!! This shit is done gotten sickening to the stomach.
Guy in a Detox facility cussing raising hell and threatening people? Someone seems surprised and takes it to the terrorist level?? How F’in stupid this shit happens all the time in these places. It’s a detox center!!! People are irrational and some are violet why because they are drug and alcohol abusers DETOXING.. Same as watching the drunk tank on Saturday night.
As far as the guy in the wheel chair he was defiantly in the wrong no question about it in my mind. The cops reaction is a different matter. He was not able to confine his personal anger and started whaling away at the guy like an ordinary thug.
I hope police in his area are not taught when struck to start wailing away on someone in the face leaving there arms and hands free to reach for a weapon. It’s been my understanding seeing defense classes and watching police video that restraint tactics far outweigh slugging it out tactics.
Once again the whole terrorist remark boils me.. Maybe we should start sending all the drunks that threaten to whoop everybody in the bar and shoot the place up to Gitmo instead of just letting them sleep it off..??
I believe the video shows that a police officer should never let his personal anger get in the way of properly restraining a suspect it not only puts his job on the line it could possibly be putting his own life and others around him on the line

If this is true and the officer new this and thought he was a threat to this degree why wasn't the guy already in cuffs???

"Someone seems surprised and takes it to the terrorist level?? "
Haven't had a chance to watch the linked video, but some states use the term "Making a criminal threat" and others use "Making a terroristic threat". Which one is used is a matter of where the offense occurs. In Kansas, it's been both in my lifetime, and long before 9-11 ever happened. The terroristic threat term was to infer that someone threatened to commit and action that was intended to cause fear of bodily harm in the person(s) to which it was directed. For example, when I was a dispatcher for the county, I was in dispatch one night and anyone that had been arrested was perp walked right past the dispatch console area. The on-duty dispatcher knew a guy that had just been arrested and when they marched the guy through, the "defendant" screamed at the dispatcher that he was gonna kick his ass when he got out of jail. In addition to the original charge, he was charged with making a terroristic threat to an LEO, a class E felony in KS.
My point is that the word terroristic or terrorist does not always mean that the system is trying to label someone as OBL or his equivalent.

Damn things have change...
I threatened to beat the shit out of an arresting officer when I was young in jail,They just hand cuffed be to the rail and 3 of them beat the shit out of me.
Lot simpler back then... They even dropped my charges for me and all parties were better for it.

Yes, Cdog is correct about the terroristic threat charge.
Things were a lot simpler back then, CCP. When I was a kid, the cops would have kicked my ass, then they would have brought me home and my father would have kicked my ass. Not so today..

Well, I have to say, my reaction would probably have been the same as the officer. But, in his capacity as Lord and Master and under color of authority, uniformed, etc. I think the turd didn't deserve to get slugged in the face a couple times.
I think the cop will lose his job and will spend the rest of his career as a mall security guard, if he's lucky.
Good hunting. El Bee

Yes, times have certainly changed (and not necessarily for the better) since the days when we feared God, The Police, Our Parents & the Principle and Teachers...........and not always in the above order, depending on what we had just been caught doing. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

If by "teachers" you mean Sister Ruffina, her and her ruler would be at the top of the list. It was just like The Blues Brothers, if you saw that?

There are very few 'Musicals' that real men can watch. The Blues Brothers is one. Paint Your Wagon is the other. There might be one more, but it escapes me at the moment.
The thing is, back about a hundred years ago, when we were young, we learnt pretty early that there were consequences to our actions. Back-Talk to your parents or teachers and you were going to get a thumpin'.....right then & there. Sass the police and you were going to get a beating....right then & there. We learnt the rules pretty quick and either behaved or got slick enough to not get caught doing bad. It's called `personal responsibility`. Now in our brave new world, it's nobody's fault. Every one's a victim. Everybody wins a trophy just for showing up. The new reality is the latest video game and how many lives you have. But............ Without structured self-discipline in our lives we are little more than animals with gadgets. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that when we behave like an animal that we are treated like an animal by the police. I'm not saying that all cops are pure as the wind driven snow, but generally, if you don't want a cop to beat you.........don't give him a reason to.
Crikey............End of rant.

It just came to me! The solution is Parochial School for everybody. Ditch the public schools and the teachers unions and bring back corporal punishment in the form of a hardwood ruler whacked across the knuckles.
Oh, but the Dems hate the idea of vouchers, don't they? They are quite happy with our education system as it is, possibly the worst in the world and we are losing ground to every modern industrialized nation on the planet.
I swear, liberals, progressives and Democrats have a mental illness. Something about acting that turns your brain to mush?
