It's about time we got on the record. Either who do you think would be the best, or who do you think he will pick?

Leonard, I must say that I'm a little disappointed that you left me off the list.

We had to make some tough choices, You and Pelosi just missed the cut.

I'm wounded...not that I missed the cut, but that you put me and that hag Pelosi in the same sentence. Have you no decency, man?!
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on August 11, 2012, 09:01 AM:
Well, I see that we missed the boat. Rubio was our choice. I actually like Romney's pick, it sort of frames the election, free spending liberals versus fiscal conservatives. LB

I don't have a problem with Ryan; Hell, SOMEBODY has to write a budget.........obama sure hasn't been able to in three years.
I was actually hoping that he would pick Cristy if for no other reason than the fact that this election is going to be fought down in the gutter in the mud & the blood & the beer. Cristy would have been a good one to send to fight on the Dem's level while Romney stayed above it all and looked Presidential.
And don't think for an instant that `looking Presidential` won't be a factor with the undecided independents.

Creepy, somebody has voted AFTER we all found out who Romney picked. I thought we screened for Democrats on this Board?

I rode the fence on this one. I picked Ryan, but figured he would pick Rubio. I did't win but think i should get a trophy for showing up cause we are all the same, except i don't use Afro Sheen as a hair dressing.

If Romney is going to frame the election as being about the economy, it kinda makes sense to have an economic specialist as his veep. I expect it will also focus the discussion back on the economy, which is where it belongs, rather than Mitt's taxes or Bain. Rubio would have helped with Florida and the Hispanics, but for some reason Rubio just never struck me as quite ready to step into the president's office if something happened to Mitt. Ryan is smart, he's got a plan, he's already had to defend that plan in multiple venues so it's not like he's gonna get that deer in the headlights look when he's attacked, he is very articulate and good with the numbers, he seems likeable enough, he can talk to folks in a way that they can understand him, and he's a (real) hunter, as opposed to a photo-op hunter.
It doesn't matter who Romney picked, that person would have had weakness(es) of some sort. If Romney loses the election, I think he can lose it with Ryan and not feel like he screwed the pooch on the veep decision or lost it because of his veep choice. And they have shown a few film clips today of Ryan crossing swords with Obama about the economy, so I don't think Ryan is going to be shy or intimidated or a shrinking violet.
I'm satisfied with the choice.

Hey..............I can't vote again. What is this??? It's not FAIR!!!
Posted by DEL GUE (Member # 1526) on August 11, 2012, 03:15 PM:
Are you a democrat, Koko? Casting multiple ballots only works if you're a democrat. Besides, you're probably a citizen who carries legitimat and valid I.D. That preculudes you, too. Besides, you were prolly wanting to vote multiple times for a republican, and that sure as hell isn't allowed!
What are you tryin' to do...piss Holder off??!!

I've suspected that very same thing for a long time, Del. He walks the walk and talks the talk. They all think they can vote early and vote often.

I'm good with Ryan. I know from my latest letter carrier's union rag that he scares the bat shit out of the AFL-CIO, so let's get 'er done!

The one VP debte scheduled will be interesting to watch. Ryan vs. Biden. Who do you think will win?
Posted by Rich (Member # 112) on August 12, 2012, 05:39 AM:
Well Romney the wild and crazy, picked a guy who appears to be his clone. Those two act like high school seniors at the Prom. Might as well run Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. The only thing we can hope for now is that people realize that ANYTHING or ANYONE Republican is better than another four years of Obama's runaway spending policies, his love for Muslim's and Illegal aliens etc. It is very sad that Romney and Ryan are the best that the Republican's could find to run against Obama.

Donald Rumsfield once said " You go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want". I feel the same way about this (and most) election(s).
Posted by DEL GUE (Member # 1526) on August 12, 2012, 09:59 AM:
I agree with Rumsfeld via Koko.
Now Romney and Ryan need to hammer Obama relentlessly on the economy, on the promises Obama made in the 2008 campaign that he didn't keep, on the failure of a budget getting passed, on his promise to cut the deficit but passing Obamacare instead.
It's also worth noting that in one single day the focus of the presidential campaign is no longer about Romney's taxes, but is now about the economy (again), and I think that works to Romney's advantage. Jobs suck, unemployment sucks, the deficit is in the statosphere, entitlements are on life-support, housing sucks, and they should play, and replay, and replay that clip of Obama saying, "I will be held accountable." His record is right there, for all to see...now they just need to beat him over the head with it, day after day after day.
And ridicule him on his 'tax the rich' mantra. "Mr. Obama, a budget hasn't been passed since you took office..is that because the rich aren't taxed enough?". "Mr. Obama, the deficit you promised to cut is through the roof..are you saying you didn't cut the deficit just because you couldn't tax the rich?". "Mr. Obama, the job report is dismal, unemployment is still 8% or higher, and that's because you couldn't tax the rich?". Make him look like an ass, which isn't exactly rocket science.

Thinking out loud, here;.... Romney's taxes.
I'm not wealthy by any means but I do have my tax guy go over my finances and get me every deduction that I can get away with. If I didn't do this, I would be what you would call ................ `Stupid`
So why is it such a big deal that Romney, who likely has more than one accountant, takes every deduction that HE can get??? If he didn't he would be.......what's that word??
Oh ya............Stupid!!!!
Somebody want to 'splain this concept to obama??
Posted by JD (Member # 768) on August 12, 2012, 08:00 PM:
Every time I see one of those stupid obama ads that cuts Romney down for having overseas accounts and tax shelters I stand up and applaud the man......we should all be so smart .....that's exactly what we need in this country, a President that understands what it takes to balance a ledger and do the HARD things that it takes to make things work in this life, this isn't some sort of damn fairy tale where the magic muslim says something and magically it happens without rhyme or reason.....it's real life and this shit is difficult and sometimes requires discipline and sacrifice......the more I learn about Romney the more I like him.
Posted by TRnCO (Member # 690) on August 13, 2012, 08:09 AM:
kind of off topic, BUT since the liberals hate the RICH, why is it that they pal upto them at these $25,000-$50,000 per plate fund raisers?
I mean, after all, "the RICH are bad people" is what they keep hammering to the public..but when it comes time to raise some funds, all hands are held out and the RICH aren't left out..
I still got hope that Obama is going down. If fund raising can be used as a meter, Obama is getting his ass handed to him at this point.

I saw on the Huf Post this morning, they talked about a new false ad by Romney. Gotta hand it to those objective Lefty's at Huf Post, they make sure you get all the facts so you don't need to make up your own mind.
That's the thing about Democrats, they are all such outrageous liars. No shame whatsoever.

What gets my goat is how they misrepresent Romney's taxes. He paid pretty much the same amount as any gazillionaire when he made that money the first time, which was like 30+% and now that it's all invested, he's living on its earnings creating capital gains taxes. No one points out that the guys taxes are so low because he already paid the bounty on all that money when it was first earned and is now paying for it the second time around. As far as hiding money off shores and exploiting tax laws to stabilize his earnings, when I first began running my taxidermy and writing as a business rather than a hobby, I was overwhelmed a bit by all the various loop holes available to me to reduce my tax obligations. I felt guilty for exploiting them and it took a while for my CPA to convince me that I was prefectly legal, that those regulations were opportunities specifically put in place to benefit me as a small business owner, and that I really needed to work within the laws, even when it benefited me financially. The only tax laws I oppose are those which benefit one group, but not everyone else. Adn, as far as I can see, that doesn't seem to be an issue.
The main focus now seems to be the Ryan Budget Plan and how terrible it is. What I didn't know until today was that his budget plan was voted in favor of by 200 Democrats in the House and that it wouldn't even impact those over 55 years of age. Obama hasn't even submitted a serious budget since he was sworn in.
This process wouldn't be so painful if the tactics and methods employed didn't prey upon the unmitigated ignorance of so many people.

Scary though came to me today, what if Obama dumps Biden, and replaces him with the Hildabeast?
Actually, i heard it on the radio, but I did think about it.

I'm not betting on that move. I don't think Obama wants a rival and Biden is no threat whatsoever. However, I'm pretty sure Hillary is sharpening her knives for 2016.

Hillary and Pelosi hate each other. Kunta Kinte is the old douche bag Pelosi's hand picked boy. Remember he beat her in 08 primarys and she (hillary) will never get over that. When the "idiots" are seen on stage together they are always on opposite ends.
And the best thing about hillary is .... she will be in her 80's (age, not dress size) in 2016.
Posted by Kokopelli (Member # 633) on August 13, 2012, 07:29 PM:
I don't see it happening. Hillary's age aside, Romney wins, she fades away to make Slick Willie's life Hell. Should the unthinkable happen & obama win with Hillary or Biden as V.P. she would have to run on obama's record in 2016. Since his first term seems to be proof positive of the long term harmful effects of drug use in ones youth, I'm not expecting much from him for the next four.

Wouldn't life be a bitch if one had "earned" 600 million in public office and had to stay with an old snag like hillary + have your office in Harlem. hahahaha, payback is a bitch, ain't it slick willy.
In retrospec i guess an office in harlem is(?) better than living in a dbl wide in Little Rock if your name is clinton.
