Well, in another month it will have been six years since I lost Nancy. She was a very proud Irishman. Her dad called her black Irish, maybe because she was brunette and lacked freckles, I don't know?
We never had huge Irish stuff going on around here, but St Patrick's Day we could count on a lot of corned beef and cabbage. (note to self, wear some green after shower)
Ever since, I have done it myself and today is no exception, started an hour ago and it will be almost eight hours before it's ready. I just brought 5 pounds to a boil, potatoes and the other gear come much later.
This is kinda like turkey at Thanksgiving. Once a year, I really look forward to gorging on some nice corned beef. Sometime today, I need a Shamrock Shake to finish it off.
Started raining last night and coming down pretty good right now, supposed to rain all day. We'll see?

Oops! Damned if I didn't forget the beverage! Well, I have time and I have to go out anyway.
Redheads can be an acquired taste, don't know if I'm ready? How about "Pinky"? He has a bit of a carrot top?

LB, it wouldn't be St Patty's Day without a proper pint (or three) of Vitamin "G"!!!
This morning, my neighbor gave me a Guiness choclate cupcake topped with Bailey's cream frosting. Not a bad way to start the day before hitting the woods with the redhead...
But what the heck is a shamrock shake?

That crest looks red enough to qualify.
Gotta ask, do you ever feed that bird any type of hot pepper? A co-worker of mine has African greys and he fed them some ghost peppers (naga jolokias) we grew at the shop and he said the bird friggin' loved 'em! If a human ate one of those whole, they'd be in a world of hurt, I promise...
Just askin', cause maybe Pinky wouldn't mind a nice chili pepper every now & again?
Thanks for the Mic D's heads up. I might just cruise a drivethru later when the Vitamin "G" wears off...

Yeah, there is some red pepper in the parrot mix I buy. Doesn't seem to phase him? I never gave him something really hot?
Man! am I stuffed! Boy, that was good. I really pigged out.

Hmm? I haven't a clue what Irish food would be? Potatoes, corned beef and after that, I'm lost? I remember something called the Potato Famine, which was, (possible) the cause of a huge migration to the U.S.
That's one of the things Nanc wanted to do though. She knew I was not particularly interested but was talking with her brother about a little trip to the Donahue homeland.
We flew over Ireland once. Strangest thing, you couldn't see a speck of land, the whole country had a huge blanket of very low clouds over the entire land mass. Reminds me of another place I don't care for, the Pacific Northwest. Too gloomy for this kid.
By the way, I got my Shamrock Shake. Yummy.

When I got mine, I saw six other orders being filled, all Shamrock shakes. I like them, and I'm usually not very crazy about mint?

Yeah, me too neitha!
I'm not a big on York peppermint patties and sure don't eat that horrid mint jelly with lamb chops, but that shake had just enough to make it interesting...

It must be a little tuff for you this time of year.
Here in Vegas we don't really have a tradition.The only thing we have that is close to one is when the wife sets up here little x-mass village around x-mass time,it dose warm the place up and gets us all in the spirit.
Here in Vegas we are recovering from total knee replacement. While it has been a lot of work for us both,it has been very rewarding as well.
Leonard I have nothing but respect for you.

If you see Danny Donahue, you might ask him what he thought of his Aunt Nancy. It will be good. Nobody ever had an unkind word, for her or about her. But, I can tell you this much. If you have a good woman, take good care of her, they are hard to find. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her, with all my heart.
