Well said JD.
Even though my dad and all his brothers served, I never realized the sacrifices made until a guy who works for me got the news his daughter was shipping out for Iraq right after her daughter was born.
Thank you to all who served.

I was in church right aroung veterans day one time. The priest had asked all the veterans to stand up. Most of the vets were older WWII or Korean War age guys.
I am glad they were honored.

I salute and appreciate all military -- active and vets. My nephew was just deployed to Afghanistan. This is his third tour, 2 in Iraq and now Afghanistan. As my brother has said, I never worried about myself during my two tours in Viet Nam but, as a father, I worry for my son.
Remember, always thank anyone in our military.
Four years ago, on Veteran's Day, was Bruce's memorial service. Three active duty soldiers from Fort Huchucha presented the colors and thanked me for Bruce's service. If you've ever been present for this particular ceremony you know how moving it is.

I was on many burial details back in the day, when I actually fit in my Dress Blues. Most were WWII guys. Very touching.
I still remember the soldiers presenting the flag when my Father was buried in Jefferson Barracks. He was one of the great generation.
