Not quite as big as last year's whitetail, but decent enough I couldn't let him walk. Deer numbers are way down do to EHD (Blue Tongue) and two consecutive really bad winters. I'm darn glad to have him as the deer sightings have been very few and far between.

I agree, a real nice buck. Just between you and me, I still can't get around whitetails, out west.

The drive home was 250 miles of ice and snow covered roads. It seemed to take forever and was not my idea of fun.
 -

What looks like mud on my truck is actually ice. I had a close call or two on the way home that had me fairly rattled. However I made it home alive so it's all good now.
 -

Despite the adverse conditions the one thing that remained constant was the pleasure of seeing this buck in the back of my truck. [Smile]

OMG! He almost got away!

I have driven a few of those roads. Had to activate four wheel drive on the hiway many times. Man! It commands your undivided attention. You know the condition where the ice is like a million mushrooms? It seems more dangerous than pure slick black ice.

Answer: Best not to drive, but if you do, use only low beams.

Actually, the rather amazing answer is...turn on your dome lights, inside the cab! Suddenly, all that snow blindness goes away and you can clearly see the road. You almost can't believe it until you try it.

I don't know how it works? But. I noticed people that were mobil driving in the other direction, as opposed to the struggle I was having. I wondered what all those absent minded people were doing? Didn't they realize their dome lights were on? A little time passes. Many cars struggle with visibility and then I see a vehicle that is zipping along.....with his dome lights on, and doing a lot better than the rest of us. So, it's not a huge secret, some people know about it when conditions are right, and some people never figure it out. For me, I finally figured it out. What a huge difference! Has to be at night, in a blinding snow storm. If you turn on your interior lights, it is amazing how well you can see in front of you.

I hope you get a chance to try it, soon! Legal? Don't know? Ask smack daddy? [Wink]

I'm sure I will have a chance to try that in the near future. It will be interesting to see how it works.
