I was trying to post on Dim's stupid silencer comment, but pushed the wrong button and created a new thread rather than a post. However it would not let me delete it, said something about it being Leonard's job.

Yeah, unfortunately. You can delete the content but you can't delete the post unless you are an administrator. So, since I delete almost nothing, we are stuck with your flub, for all the world to see. Almost equals what Tim wrote. Kinda. At least you only kept us in suspense a day, or so. Could have been worse.

If you think it bothers HIM, what about Dan, (the man)? Mad Dog chews his tongue, & chases his tail over that kind of stuff.
Therefore; keep it up Tim.

I'm not bothered by turd-bag at all, in fact I kinda like having the pecker head sumbitch around so I can jerk his chain. Besides that when else can you poke fun at the mentally challenged and get away with it.

Both were good sized adults. The coyote on the left is a good sized female, on the right is a male. Only one juvinille in the bunch and it came in more cautious than the rest put together. He was a bugger to call in, but he finally came within range.

Actually just had to sound like a baby cottontail, anything like a big rabbit and he'd get scared or too cautious. The little baby cottontail seemed to give him a little more confindence. He still took his sweet time though.

Interesting. Like with cats, they seem to respond, initially, (at least for me) to a real gravel-y jackrabbit, from way out yonder. Then, at random ranges, they sometimes hang up and continuing with a jack ain't going to move him.
But, switching, specifically, to a sound that is a lot less intimidating can make up his mind and he may decide to approach at a very good pace. And, it doesn't take very long, when you use the right sound; they don't need twenty minutes of pitiful pleading, it's like flipping a switch. I like to use sounds of small animals, and high pitched sounds, baby cottontail, rodent or rat or just a good sloppy back of the hand lip squeak. Baby kittens or baby canine. Works like magic.
But, this is different than a young coyote who knows the area is crawling with big dogs. Maybe a reasoning process works like....hey? if there be a big dog over there, why do I hear a pipsqueak cottontail? Big dog might be eating something else or he is not around, any more? "I'll risk it".
edit: because, big dog would make very short work of a baby rabbit. Coyotes are smart enough to do a bit of reasoning on these basic issues.

...and then a guy goes out the next day and a pup will come charging in to a pup in distress or adult jackrabbit. Coyotes keep me constantly guessing. I suppose that is why it never gets old.

Nope, never gets old. Sometimes routine, and sometimes exceptional, but always interesting, many different, diverse and in my case, I never get over the "unbelievable" aspect. I think I marvel over every sighted coyote responding on a stand. Does not get old. How true.
