I hope some of you guys are as proud of our kids from California winning the Little League World Championship against Japan, last year's champion. They played tough like a junk yard dog, and I couldn't be prouder of them.
The Japanese kids were a class act too and made a good showing. Record attendance by over 100,000 higher than the previous record made this one of the best Little League World Series ever.

I'm not all that 'into' sports, but I would rather watch a Little League game than a bunch of over paid prima donna's standing around scratching their packages & spitting all over the place.
Seeing the little guys play their hearts out is pretty cool & the parents can be a hoot to watch too.

Koko, I really like the Little League World Series a lot. I played on the Yankees the very first year Lexington, Ky. had a Little League in 1951. We had our 50 year reunion at Woodland Park, where it all started. Approximately 20% of the boys who participated in that league played all the way through college and several of them made it to the majors.
A lot of those "Overpaid prima donnas" you mentioned who are playing in the majors now got their start in Little League. It is interesting to me to keep up with some of the outstanding players you watch in the Little League World Series and see them play later on at a higher level. No doubt some of them are overpaid and some of them have an attitude, but you find that in any occupation. Their career time is relatively short, even if they play injury free, so I can see them commanding a lot of $$$$$. Guys like Pete Rose more than paid the Phillies back for his salary in increased season ticket sales and leading them to their first World Series title since Moby Dick was a minnow.
Go U.S.A.!

Pete Rose is usually associated with the Cincinnati Reds?
Congrats to our LL World Champs!
I'll tell you what, when my kid was playing, we were into it up to our eyeballs.

Leonard, I'd say you are correct that Pete Rose is usually associated with the Cincinnati Reds and the Big Red Machine of the 70's. However, when he signed a huge contract with the Phillies, people were moaning and groaning something awful saying he was too old to draw that kind of money, etc.. He more than paid for his own salary and bonuses in increased season ticket sales, and led them to a World Series championship, first one since way back yonder. Nobody was saying any negative stuff about his salary then.

I really get into the kid's baseball. My son had a tournament last weekend.
Good deal on the win!
