Joel, do you know anything about this? Heard rumors it got pushed through fcc in some screwy deal. Is my gps going to become obsolete? Anyone else know? [ May 17, 2011, 09:02 AM: Message edited by: CrossJ ]

I don't think there will be a problem long term. The FCC has some pretty specific rules on splatter. You have to stay within your given frequency without splatter or they will fine your ass off.

I'm getting the drift that Joel is the man to see, for coyotes and GPS devices? He made a comment on the Board a while back, that Shaw barely knew how to turn his on? I thought he navigated pretty good with it, but he sure fooled me?
I am between GPS units right now, don't know which way to jump.

Nah, Randy can operate his gps pretty well. Joel did manage to get an 'introduction' onto Randy's gps that Randy can't figure out how to remove....lol.

Okay. I thought he did pretty good, marked each stand when and where and what happened and was pretty good on getting back to it for reference, that's all you need, right? Of course, he was using a paper and pencil Interface, occasionally.

El Bee; FWIW..............
I'm pretty happy with my Bushnell Backtrack. Small, lightweight & easy to use. It has very few bells and whistles but the only time I use it is while calling 'cause some bastard kept moving my truck while I was on stand.
If you want a lot of features it's not the unit you want.

"I am between GPS units right now, don't know which way to jump." ------------------------------- Get one of those that talks to you Leonard, and be sure to turn the volume knob all the way up. That way you can be sure that it will blare out "Turn Right" or something, and it will do this every time you have a coyote almost close enough for a good shot. See what good advise I freely give to my friends?

Sorry Geordie. The oilfield is keeping me too busy to even get on the internet! Just happened to get on during a quick lunch break.
Honestly, that's the first I've heard of it. But like the article says, I'd be real surprised if it doesn't get worked out, seeing that so much of the world has a little gps in their pocket, and so many companies rely on gps technology. I wouldn't worry about it.
Leonard, if Randy was marking waypoints and using that thing like he knew what he was doing, then I'm impressed too! Actually, it's just fun to mess around with Randy. It's just so dang easy! But that's one of the things that makes me enjoy the heck out of hunting with him. Between me and Quinton busting his balls, it's about like a party! LOL

Yeah, peanut butter man is fun to mess with. I like hunting with him, not a single disagreement. He's a good hunter and a good shot. He says Geordie is too, but I have not had the pleasure, yet.
