My sympathies are with Green Bay. Pittsburg is becoming a lot like Oakland.

I have a brother in law that is a big Green Bay fan. I don't care to socialize with him too much so I'm going with the Steelers. Wouldn't really care either way if he wasn't a Green Bay fan.

Game?, what kind of game?....yeah, yeah...super bowl; of which Im happy to say, in 57 years Ive not watched one gawd damned minute of one!

Tomorrow may be your last opportunity to watch one in the Great State of Arizona. That has to be on your bucket list. Don't let the chance slip through your fingers, Mr Simmons.

I confess. I'm a little confused All three of the above contributors have an "az" somewhere in their screen name? Shall we request that they all reply? I think so too.

Good hunting. LB

Like those who abhor golf, or bowling or watching billards; that is my feeling about football, it just never grabbed me?
I played baseball from pee-wee league, clear thru high school, and was always a skilled pitcher, but Ive not watched a baseball game or any world series since high school. Im sure it's an aversion to team sports, they just don't hold an interest to me.
In fact, I do watch golf, and find it fascinating although Ive never swung a club. Golf is about the only sport that to my mind, approximates shooting, which is about the only sport Ive participated in over the last 35 years.

My comment was tongue in cheek. I won't miss it! My prediction...Steelers by a touchdown.

Although I can't stand the fudge, I've got them to win this one by 3. So long as the packs score ends in a 2.. an Pitts a 1.. that's all I care about.

Lots of money changing hands today.

You can bet on any aspect of the game.

Coin toss, fist completed pass, first fumble etc. etc etc.

My neighbor is having a party, may run over for a cold one.

To old to party to hard anymore!!

Well, look, golf and bowling are frustrating activities for me, so I gave them both up. Football, as wrestling I don't enjoy other sweaty male bodies, thank you. But, I did play pick up tackle (football) games at the local park, for a while. Now, that was a rough game, no pads, etc.

Anyway, football has become something I barely recognize, as played professionally, on TV. College ball is getting there and so far, high school sports don't offend my intelligence.

What's even worse is the hype connected with the Superbowl. What's worse than that is the idiotic fascination with the friggin' commercials. At one time, some of the commercials were very entertaining but the vast majority, lately verge on stupidity.

Superbowl Sunday, for me, for many years always found me somewhere in Nevada, killing as many coyotes as I could, so I missed a lot of the stupid hype. I must be getting old because here I sit and I think I will watch, but not because I give a shit about who wins. We are being played for suckers, folks. None of this shit is important, nor is it particularly interesting. Baaaa, baaa!

E gads! The tension, you could cut it with a knife! Only a couple more hours until the stores thin out and I can do a little shopping for staples, beans and bacon, meybe a plug and a small flask of Jim Beam? Who am I kidding? I couldn't pick Jim Beam out of a line up if you told me; "this next one is Jim Beam."

But I do have some chips and salsa, I mean pico de gallo, maybe that's all I need? And, two different brands of light beer. I can't believe it's come to that...either?

I need to get out and kill something. Hey, call me!

Good hunting. LB

Tomorrow is soon enough, I guess?

OMG! OMG! Christina Aguliar! And, the coin toss coming up! Awesome! And, the commercials! WOW!

I don't know? I can't get into it like I should. Oh wait, now Michael Douglas is telling me that this is MORE than just a football game. Oh?

Yeah, GB gets the football! Won the toss, bad omen for Pittsburg.

Pulling for GB for one reason - Jordie Nelson was a K-State standout, always enjoyed watching him play here at home, and we always root for the homeboys.

Well, thank god it's over for another year, the damned game has become an institution much like Christmas and the Fourth of July, and bigger than Memorial and Labor day.

Fergie should hang it up, she ain't got it, if she ever had it, and hanging out with those poptarts don't help her image none, either.

I will tell you a bit of senior citizen recollection. The first Superbowl was in the Rose Bowl, about 45 years ago. It was strictly a pay TV event when it was not popular, at all. Yes, no broadcast TV. You either went to the game or you paid to watch it. People were rigging up some sort of wire antenna that supposedly captured the show? I guess some people got it, if they were located in line with the stadium, but not a whole lot of people saw that game. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you needed to go to a movie theater, pay admission to see the game, if you didn't live around here?

Gives you some perspective. It was sort of ho hum, back then, but the NFL and the owners have worked their little buns off with the help of the drive by media to make this thing into a friggin' big deal, as if you had not noticed?

You will never catch me spending a dime on it.

Good hunting fellow suckers, LB

But what do we know? [Razz]

I was at the Cardinals first game in the new digs and our seats were pretty close to the stage where the half time musical offering was. I was eyeballing the female in the group through my 10X binos and asked my buddy who they were. When he told me they were the Black Eyed Peas, I nearly shit. Fergie was dynamite from the chin down, but man oh man, the helmet was ROUGH! I was wondering if the camera would keep its distance yesterday, what with HD and all. I couldn't stick it out to see though. Their opening 10 seconds were enough to drive me from the room.

When you've seen one ball game you have seen them all. I'd rather watch grass grow in the winter.

I can't figure the vote in New Jersey? Fergie is a dog, folks. Ever seen that clip of her wetting her pants on stage? Now, Christina, I guess I'd do her, but the ratty bleach job kinda made her look like a high class hooker. Compared to Fergie, however, she could charge a lot more.

Does Dan, (the man) or, better known as "Mr Cheerless" does he enjoy ANYTHING, besides watching grass grow in the wintertime?

if you've seen grass grow once, does his theory still hold?

Just sayin'

Good hunting. LB

okay, christina is the bleach blonde that screwed up our nations anthem but who the hell is fergie. And the half time show reminded me of one of those childrens shows that my g-kids watch on T.V.

Paul;
Just think 'Skank #1 & Skank #2' then put the whole thing out of your mind.

RANT ALERT [Mad]

Now...............Why is it that we have some spaced out skank who doesn't take our National Anthem seriously enough to learn the words, attempt to sing it in front of millions????

Is there nobody in the Marine Band that can sing?? How about next time, we have a baritone service member in uniform sing it correctly??

Or, we could see if RoseAnn Barr is busy. [Eek!]

End of rant.

Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on February 08, 2011, 10:59 AM:

Point well taken. Why the hell do we need a friggin' celebrity to sing the National Anthem? Besides that, the first song was what? America the beautiful? Whatever it was, I'm for dumping the current one for something a little more melodic. Maybe we can't beat the French Anthem for stirring the gut, but what we have now is a real clunker, folks.

Good hunting. LB

(edit: typing while you were, Leonard!)

RANT ON:

These friggin' pre-madonnas are more interested in self promotion than honoring our Country anyway.
Seems like every other nimrod performer who sings before a sporting event is there as a self serving-pseudo American Idol tryout. To the point that they fawk the whole song up!
A song that should bring tears of pride from the crowd before them is regurgitated as a their own 'flashy' rendition...
That 'chit drives me nuts!

Here's an urgent message to all bestowed the privilege to sing our National Anthem:

Yeah yeah yeah, we ALL know you can sing.
THAT'S WHY you got asked to perform, ya idjit!

so listen up:
SING the ANTHEM how it SHOULD BE SUNG
With HONOR, REVERENCE & RESPECT for our country & for those who are defending it!!!

Stow that 7 octive embellishment crap for your own garbage "music".

rant OFF

I agree.

I think Christina is a solid performer, but she looked cheap and messed up the National Anthem.

Whitney Houston did a nice job at Super Bowl XXV, when the Giants beat the Bills.

Christina can sing, she has a great voice. I don't like much of here music though. But yea, she messed up.

This gal is hotter here

Posted by Dan Carey (Member # 987) on February 08, 2011, 04:43 PM:

She was a good looking gal back when she was in that redneck movie. However I didn't like the way she sang the NA in that clip.
