Fellows, I drove up to Lewistown, PA to visit the guys at Foxpro on Jan. 6 and 7, and I sure am glad I made the trip. Starting at the very top with John Dillon, that is the most dedicated bunch of people I have ever met. They were especially busy, but treated me great in every way. There is a lot of passion for our sport within those walls, and everything was top shelf. Some of the things they are working on will be made public at the Las Vegas SHOTshow, and others a little later. Mike and Steve Dillon are chips off the old block, though different in lots of ways, but both totally dedicated to customer satisfaction like their dad. Joe Brumbaugh, Abner Druxenmiller and all the others are a credit to Foxpro also. I am proud to be associated with them.

Is that the Joe that handles the tech desk? He is good. Did everything he said he wold do and got my machine back to me 2nd day air. I had complained that the LED was so dim I could hardly see it. They found that it wasn't positioned properly to shine through the lens, bent pins, I guess? That wasn't why I sent it back, it was just a casual question I had when preparing to return my original machine. I told him that there was a huge difference between the brightness of the first caller's LED and the replacement. So, I wound up returning the back cap off the new one along with the entire CS24L that wasn't working properly.
Al, something he showed me that really helps especially in cold weather. The top knob. It has a tendency to scroll and skip several pages when it is very unhelpful. Where you want to go from the top of the page (number 32, for example) and turning it clockwise several clicks does nothing and suddenly it goes way past to #98.
He walked me through changing individual numbers, one at a time instead of pages and that is so much better, performance wise, at least in my opinion. I think I have the bugs ironed out thus far, but programing sounds on a MAC doesn't work so good, for me. I may have to call AP Jones because I have a few sounds I can't get loaded?
Good hunting. LB

Yeah, that is the same fellow. They affectionately call him "Smokin'Joe" on the forum. He is one sharp dude on anything about a computer, but I don't see how he carries the load he does, working a lot of hours to get the job done. I would bet he can tell you a lot about your problems loading sounds from the MAC.

Lenard, can you explain how you did the scrolling thing?? mine does the same when cold and its a HUGE pain in the ass. i tried doing what you did by reading my manual but can't get it to go into the single page mode. i still get the 6 sounds per page??

I think what Leonard is talking about is switching to the single sound scrolling method instead of a page at a time. It is all in your menu on your TX-500. First hold down on your scroll knob with the TX-500 on until the menu appears. Come down and select TX-500 config, then Display, then Scroll, then Single, then Exit. After doing that, it will change one sound at a time either up or down as you turn the scrolling knob.
Another method that some people like is using the big number mode instead of the sound list. In that mode, you see just a big number and the volume level. Some people who don't use too many sounds prefer punching in the number instead of scrolling to the sound they want on the list. Keep in mind that you can't use the Preset Mode and the Big Number mode simultaneously. Foxbang will work regardless as long as the ecaller is not muted.
If you need more help on any of this, just give me a call at 859-575-2862 and I'll try to help you out. Better call in the evening though, as most days I am out after coyotes.

Yeah, Al explained it as well or probably better than I could have, in his first paragraph.
In any event, it is a good solution for me. Scrolling a page at a time, even when it's working properly is still a little inconvenient because in some cases, you only want the next sound, but when you get the next page, the highlight is on the top sound and you must scroll down to the bottom of the page.
I'm never going back to the page at a time format. One sound at a time just seems to be more user friendly, for me.

All this "tech talk" reminds me I need to add a touch of super glue to my Pee Wee call. At the ripe old age of 17 it is starting to show its age.
Good hunting.

Heck, Q. I've got one that has been rolling around in the bottom of my ammo box for at least 17 years. It's practically new and it's yours, if you want it.
