'Ceptin' she was using our Buick on her way home tonight. [Frown]

 -

The last thing I need right now is a car payment, gawddamit. But, she did really good and plowed right through him at 70 mph on the Interstate. Five bucks hit within a 3 miles strecth all within the same 30 minutes this evening. Tow trucks and troopers everywhere. LOL Subframe is bent, fender, door hood and lamps assembly on P-side and grill are toast. Driver's side front fender displaced about a half inch out, too. I'm guessing they'll total it since it's an '01. WHat a shitty wee,... well, last twenty years. [Mad]

Serves you right for buying domestic. just kidding.

All kidding aside, doesn't your collision cover this sort of thing? Except for a deductible. Another of my pet peeves. Through no fault of your own, an unavoidable encounter with a deer. The agent talks you into saving 25 bucks a year to have a $500 deductible, instead of $100. But, when something like this happens, that $25 "savings" winds up costing you 20 times the amount of "savings' with the high deductible. Farmers don't even offer 100, the lowest they offer, at least here in CA is $250.

Good hunting. LB

We have State Farm and our deductible is 250. I've never been in this position with one before, so what happens from here is a mystery to me. I've had ppl tell me they'll gimme no more than what it's blue book value is and I've had people tell me they'll pay me out for a car of comparable quality and this thing has been babied from the day my dad bought it new and I inherited it. That's the only sadness for me is that this was my dad's pride and joy and for an old lady's car, it's very sporty looking. LOL Good mileage and barely any repairs to speak of. Gonna miss her.

BTW, couldn't find the deer, but there's deer shit down the passenger side, hair in every crevice, skid marks from what Lisa described as "Big horns" across the hood and chunks of meat all over the driver's side. Last week, I told of the coyote I put the stalk on and killed? Happened right there. Damn!

Have you spoken with State Farm yet? I have hit 4 deer over the years and they have allways waived the deductible for deer hits. I currently have 6 vehicle, two houses, a camper, a boat and a four wheeler insured with them. I strayed one time and learned my lesson. Other than that one year, I have been insured with State farm since 1979

Lance im sorry to hear that! That sucks.

I will vouche for the deer moving though! Wednesday I saw 2 different bucks running around beside the road. Then that night while out scouting waterfowl I saw two big bucks fighting in the middle of a winter wheat field. Tis the season!

Coyotes will be thick in that area for a few weeks now. I hit a deer going 65 when I was 17. Its not fun for sure, especially when the lights all bust out and the radiator fluid covers the windshield. Brakes and hold on....bout all you can do.

Hope the insurance works out for you man.

Damn, hate to hear that Lance. I damn near hit one every night. Fuckin things are everywhere. Good news is, at least with mine, its an act of god, and no deductible. And, the best part, no one was hurt.

Shouldn't have killed all those coyotes in that area and you wouldn't have this deer problem......

Nah!

Most states cover deer damage under comprehensive, rather than collision.

I always run a very high collision deductible, being fairly confident in my driving abilities and a low deductible on comprehensive.

You need one of the Australian bumpers like is on my Land Rover. 680 lbs of 1/4 steel air compressor housing, wench mounting deer guard. It has hit two at speeds between 40 and 50 and has just a slight tilt backwards where it moved in the slotted mounting holes.

Now, if it was just attached to a decent vehicle....

Sorry for the run of bad luck.

The body shop says they can fix it. I'm happy. Hate to think about buying a new car right now with some other expenses going on. Went out on the interstate where she hit it and found it across the road about 200 yards away. Small 8 point, actually a 4-point now with the front left shoulder smashed to hell and dried pink foam out both nostrils from her double lunging him with the Buick. LOL Driving through there in the light of day and there's chunked out deer everywhere. Looked like it rained dead shit during the night.

Well, the body shop now says no-go. They got as far as the $5k mark which is just under the cash value of the car and called to say they were forwarding the pics and stuff to State Farm's total loss people.

Gawddamit!

Hear tell the state ***** them used orange dump trucks pretty cheap. Add a snow plow and you will be ready to go. Seriously, I'm glad to hear no one was hurt. Wheels and paint can be replaced (sometimes painfully however) but loved ones can't.

I'm sorry, but you know, when there is a bug in the program, it takes a computer geek to figure it out and I'm not. Glad to see so many resourceful members that can find their way around these things. How clever, SeIIs, spelled with two capital "i's".

Good hunting. LB

But.........but......... The 'Terms of Agreement' page two, section 4 clearly states that we never cut you any slack in order to keep you fit & ready to deal with the dipsticks that seem to crawl out of a coyote's ass and post here just to stir shit.

It's all in the Okie Forum.

Well, okay and not so okay news today. State Farm called and they're paying me cash value for the car as they totaled it. Sending me a check for about $6100. I'm okay with that because that's the top end of that car's value. What sucks is that the guy then tells me that since we officially totaled it today, the 5-day clock begins running on how long they'll pay for a rental car, and that means I have to either turn the car back in and go without on Saturday, or cover the cost of the rental all on my own when I was advised the morning after the accident that I had rental coverage up to $1500 with them paying 80%. Now, I can understand that the Buick is no longer covered by them since it is totaled, and that they don't want me taking my sweet time shopping around for a new car on their dime, and I would see their point even more if the Buick was the only thing I had insured by them, but they're getting money from me every month of the year for my pickup, another car, and my house, too. So, I told the nice guy with State Farm that there's no way for me to get a day off when dealerships are open until next Tuesday because of the holiday and the weekend, which means I have to cover the price of the rental for a few days without their help and since I had to take the day off to go shopping for cars, I should just as well take two days off and look for a new insurance carrier, too. All he said was that they passed this new policy and were cracking down on overspending for rental cars. I told him I certainly understood because I was cracking down on being screwed in the ars by my insurance company. You could hear the crickets chirping at the other end of the line. Oh well, nothing ever goes to hell when it's convenient.

The double standard with insurance carriers is almost laughable. They have their hand out every month and the relationship is beautiful...until you need what you've been paying for and actually make a claim. Losses not covered (read fine print), depreciated value (how can I buy a fence of equal value?), etc., etc. Just today I had a conversation with a claims person about my windshield, which took a rock yesterday. She wanted to know how big the damaged area was. When I told her the crack was about 3 inches long today, she said, "Oh, so it will be a repair then". I said "No, I want replacement. If your policy is that it has to be bigger, I'll just wait until it is". Actually I was just going to hang up the phone and go adjust the size with a hammer. We finally came to an understanding and the OEM glass will be installed tomorrow. Pisses me off that they successfully screw countless people with their Tony Robbins tactics, leading them down the path of least resistance.

I agree. Although they are taking good care of me on the price, I've always felt that they oughtta pay you what you've paid into the policy if you never make a claim on the vehicle. One claim, regardless of size, and you forfeit your right to the lump sum. Since most everything you pay them is invested in the stock market so they can make money that way, the economy has made them very stingy with their pay outs because they have to be just barely getting by, too.

Thanks, Dustin. That's alright. I have Monday off and the wife has put in for it, too. We'll go driving around and get one bought. Already have had two dealerships try to call us now that word is out that we're on foot. Both here in town. They seem to think I have some loyalty to this town and prefer to buy local. They don't realize I drive 70 miles round trip just to buy groceries because I won't give a dime to the rat bastards that own the grocery store here in town who fired my wife because she came home for lunch while working there and found our daughter (10 y/o) with a 101 fever and gave her the option of staying home with a sick kid and losing her job, or coming back to finish her day. One of the dealerships hired the former police chief that I helped to begin his search for a new career after he was fired with a very well written four page complaint against him, his mama, and most of his ancestors. Now that he's employed there, I won't do business with them. I wouldn't piss in the guy's ear if his brains were on fire, and I sure as hell don't feel like helping him to make a "sale" after the screwing he and his compadres gave my boy. Not that I'm bitter. LOL We're headed your way on Monday to deal with Briggs' and Little Apple.

I hate fuckin insurance. We got in a huge hailstorm in July. Totalled out two vehicles and did 21k damage to the house. They paid off right quick on the cars. Wrote me a check for 12k on the house. Said to send in receipts when I spent that and they would send the rest. Dont ever fall for that bullshit. I fixed it all and got a $269 check in the mail a few weeks later. Nothing since. Always an excuse.

Now, Im dropped off my wifes group insurance for health. We couldnt afford what they were going to charge.

Its a damn racket. Im goin on the teat.
