Been camped out on the desert for a few days. Here are the results. Gross score 90". Potentially top 5 for the state ever. The pics don't do him justice.

Good lord, that may be the first antelope I've ever seen and thought "Wow thats a big one".

Congrats. Tell us about the shot... was he in the same area code when you pulled the trigger?

Good job Cal! [Big Grin] It was probably that big guy's Momma that tried to stomp on me out west of Rawlins that time.

Well done Cal!

I don't kow crap about how antelope are scored, but when you say possible top 5 in WY all time it must be one heck of an antelope.

I'd like to hear a bit about the hunt and what you poked it with?

No big story. 1 shot 483 yards. 7mm Mag. May will make top 50 all time Boone and Crockett. Hunted my ass off and covered a jillion miles and looked at a billion goats. Dry and dusty, cold at night. 1 ruined pickup tire. Oh, and I forgot he's 16 1/2 tall with 8 inch bases.

Cal,
You are waaaay too modest--483 yards would be a big story for me! [Smile]

Cool pronghorn--love the little kicker point!

Nicely done Cal! All the better you had to work for him and make a nice shot to seal the deal.

Looks like the bullet exited lung area, judging by the second pic. Perfect shot. What bullet were you using?

Good hunting. LB

Sweet!!!!

Question; Do you regularly practice out to 500 yards or just sight in at xxx yards & go by the drop charts??? Not trying to be a smart-ass.....I just don't understand all that I know about long range shooting.

Kokopelli,
I regularly practice out to 1000 yards with this rifle. I have the target turrets etched with the yardages and it corresponds closely with the bullet and load I shoot, depending on elevation and temperature. I was shooting 168 grain Bergers at 3120 FPS. A 4 or 5 hundred yard shot with this rifle is a chip shot with no wind.

LB, that is actually the entrance hole, quartering slightly away, and it exited just in front of the off shoulder. He hit the ground so hard he may have chipped a tooth!

And after checking the B and C books I'm going to say probably top 10 in WY, not top 5. There is a bigger stack of 90s there than I thought. Funny side note, while at the taxidermist they have to put an interstate game tag on animals as they come in, the little metal band that most of you have seen. It wasn't big enough! They couldn't get it around the base of the horn where it's supposed to go!

Great picture, great antelope. That problem coyote you killed at long range a few weeks ago had you primed and ready. Good shooting for sure. Thanks for sharing with us.

Awesome.
I wouldn't even know where to aim for a 1000 yard shot. The places that I haunt, 200 yards is a long shot. Always been a little more comfortable in the thick stuff.
