What did he do, Andy? Are you Grrr
Are you going to haul him into the backroom after you get his story? It sure doesn't help that he thinks treebark is legit camo! ElBee [ July 22, 2010, 01:09 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

El Bee; Go easy on Andy; I think that the poor guy is under a lot ot stress. I mean, it's been a rough off season for the guy. I got my Weems patch, Nikonot is on his way to getting his TreeBark patch & Andy ain't heard squat from FoxPro despite his proven loyality in light of the outstanding offer that I made him for his new caller. Plus, the Storm Gods tried to get him, he has a teenager w/motorcycle, & he lives in Missouri. (They pronounced it 'misery' on the radio when I lived there.)
Andy; it's time to run some 'shine, take a road trip, & enjoy a desert sunrise or two. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Yeah, well I'm worried that this Mod job has gone to his hed? He could even bleep ME, accidentally! He could be plotting with Nia nut against me but I don't want to get all paranoid about it. Yet.

I guess I could ask part of what I wanted to talk to Niko about here. What kind of material is it you wrap these caller horns in to take out the tinny sound? Vic says you cant take it out, but others say you can. I got the SOB so I might as well try to get it out. I bought it in Realtree, thinkin you spend big bucks and you dont have to modify, now Im going to have to wrap the horn in Treebark. Go figger.
Honestly, I cant hear the tinny sound that bad. Maybe just a wee bit. But if that makes so much difference, how the fuck did I ever call a coyote with a 512 or 612 or that old 8 track think I had made up with all the hissin and clickin in the background?
I just dont see it being that big of a problem, I guess. Anyway, the rest of what I have for Niko is private. GRRRRRRR ![[Mad]](mad.gif)

Tom, does the shell carrier come in Treebark? Could be a deal breaker....

I used Vet Wrap too, but considered hitting the outside of the horn with some of that 'rubberized' truck undercoating spray...
Just thinkin' out loud here, but there is a product called Dynamat that is used in high end car stereo installs that might work. Dynamaat has a peel n' stick adhesive backing for applying it to a vehicle's metallic surfaces to dampen vibrations, keep road noise out and your speaker's noise IN...

I've wrapped the TOA speakers for years with a 3M Medical Foam tape. It's white, so won't fit your Treebark criteria though. Last season I had one of the neoprene covers made for the thing and that's the cat's meow. Easy on/off for quick change of camo colors.

Andy, just use the vet wrap. I sent Vic a couple rolls....I can get almost any color you want. Stay away from the tree bark stuff. That treebark is so good, you might not be able to find your caller once the stand is over.

I saw someone else doing this, maybe on this site, so I tried it too. So far the neoprene works well. This is a rifle buttstock cover from Basspro or whoever, they are a little difficult to put on, but I never take it off.

BTW, I think that is Mossy Oak so it is much better than treebark camo. [ July 23, 2010, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: DanS ]

Yep that's the one I used, just unscrew the speaker from the cone and slide it on that way.
I agree with G, tree bark would be too difficult to find after the stand... [ July 23, 2010, 10:08 AM: Message edited by: TOM64 ]

Yeah, that treebark is barf! I don't get the whole problem? Is it to prevent "tinny" sound, or bumps against telephone poles, or so it's hard to find, after a stand?
Good hunting. LB

extra batteries...
Leonard, I think the sound is a bit "tinny" but it doesn't matter to the coyotes. Now when you're slipping in to a stand and the caller swings around and hits a limb, then yes that matters. That's why I covered mine.

That's a good idea, using the rifle stock cover over the speaker. I like the shell loops too.
It looks like it fits on there nicely.

The shell holder looks like a dandy spot to place a couple of Milk Bone dog bisquits. While the coyote fills its belly and whitens its teeth the enterprising hunter is lining up for the shot...

I thought the shell holders were for the mouth calls, so that after you shoot a few of those Coyotes, you walk over to the CS-24, blow on the mouthcall and shoot more of them. That's how we do it up north anyways. Good hunting.

Northern Tree Bark Pattern on speaker and battery pack with 3M tape on grip. 100% necessary to have that tape on the metal grip, keeps the hands much warmer. Not an issue for the warm weather guys though.
