We've never grown anything larger than a small garden. My dad grew us a few when I was a kid. This week we are planting an acre or 2 of pumpkins. We are gonna have one of those fall harvest doohickies. Little kids can jump on the air-castle thing-a-ma-whoooper. Moms and dads can get family pictures taken at the what-cha-ma-thing. We are trying to be economically creative. Times are tough you know...
Anyway, this wanna be farmer will not settle for, "I reckon' if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it" advise. The old horse poop is being spread, the ground gets turned over early next week, and seeds are going in right after. So...any advise? besides get edumacateified on farming? I'm a learning but I've not yet practiced. Remember, I've lots of little critters to help every day. Also, this property we rented was long vacant. There about 50 jillion baby and adult bunnies around. Kids catch and release several every day. Next week they quit being cute and become public enemy number one. Advise? We can't use .22s legally here. We have 10 acres in the middle of town - kinda - Not really what you'd call 'country'. Airguns we'll have, but not sure how big of a dent the boys can make.
We also have a fine mate for Alby's "Rocky". Her name is Magill, but she calls herself Lil but everyone knows her as Nancy. Any advise on how to keep her and her young ones in line? [ May 30, 2010, 10:51 AM: Message edited by: Locohead ]

Feed them a diet rich in protein, aged cheeses, oysters, angus beef, fried chicken.

Tall, cloesly woven fencing around the perimeter and a couple good coyotes oughtta fix you right up.

Lance, actually Jacob had a similar idea. He proposed one of those coyote dekes you were big on as a scare crow for bunnies. I think it just might work! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)
