-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am on a large cattle ranch and shoot somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 yotes every winter with most of them being what I call "drive buys" and as the winter goes on the yotes get wildier and most of the shooting is running shots and that is where the AR really shines for me. Follow up shots are smooth and fast and if you can see where the bullet hits you can walk your shots in. Link to Post - Back to Top 12.213.224.54

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like to adapt a 100 round drum magazine to mine, and I have the "Hell-Fire" trigger system mounted on it....man can that rig spit lead at runin' yodel dogs! The Hell-Fire system virtually turns your ho-hum vanilla flavor AR into a real shootin' machine, almost like haveing a full auto on stand!!!!!! Look out yotes! Instead fo "walkin em in", I literally stream BBs from behind a runnin yete like your using a spray nozzle on a water hose, and "paint" the lead right up to the yote....In the truck baby!!!!!
Who are these idiots? They are making us all look bad. [ March 31, 2010, 05:37 PM: Message edited by: Aznative ]

As it turns out, the guy slinging lead is aka borderbandit, Azhunter and chilirojo. Not knowing who borderbandit is, I took it as a real deal and not someone just being sarcastic.
Just for S&Gs I went over to coyotegods, and JH has that place under lock down. You cannot get in to even look withoug a username and password so I passed. I haven't been over there in years because I got tired of reading about 17 rems, a coyote hunting season and how important it is to skin.
I'm politically incorrect and very proud of it. Despite being a member of PVCI, I sometimes call them PCVI for Politically Correct Varminters Inc. [ March 31, 2010, 05:49 PM: Message edited by: Aznative ]

I confess; Im the idiot, or at least the presumed idiot. The post was indeed in jest, but nothing has any humor, unless there is some element of truth to the topic. I know I get a giggle from the "fast follow-up" crowd; amazing that a guy can miss the best shot he's going to get on an incoming coyote, you know, the one where it has bounced in and come to a stop, the guy misses that shot, but thank gawd he has a magazine full of BBs, so he can possibly hit it with the other four rounds in the magazine while it is hauling ass out of the country? Im no Dave Affleck or Quinton W when it comes to either long range shooting or moving coyotes, but I can hold my own, and in my opinion a guy has two "good" shots possibly, the best one with a stationary coyote, and one more if he's lucky while the coyote is leaving. A third, fourth, fifth or tenth is a total crapshoot, might be fun for the trigger yankers and high fiver crowd, but usually nothing more than blind ass luck. I still stand by my opinion that a decent rifleman with a turnbolt gun is at not disadvantage to the AR shooter. I catch hell for voicing this sometimes, and get advised I just don't know. Let me qualify my opinion by stating Ive owned over a dozen different ARs over the years, all geared towards various competitive disiplines, so I know my way around an AR. They just aren't ergonomically conducive to hunting purposes for me, but evidently a bunch of guys love them........it's a big tent some of us like bolt guns some like the black guns/

I like both AR's and bolt guns but I'm better with an AR. No need for a hell fire trigger either, ammo is just too dang high for that.
On 24hourcampfire a feller just wrote "if you haven't emptied a mag full of tracers at a running coyote, you don't know what you're missing".
It makes me a little ill and makes it alot harder for Leonard to take us machinegunners serious. Oh well we all know the real deal is a grenade launcher...

Yes we do. TO me a bolt gun anymore is like a 3 speed on the column. It will work, but why...the auto has some advantages.
Good to see the form up and runnig LB.

Leonard; yeah, I knew Rob and his brother Phil, both good guys running a good ranch. They ranch just down Hwy 80, almost to Apache, which is just west of Rodeo, off in that gorgeous grassland and oak groves at the base of the Chirachua Mts. Very unfortunate indeed, and it appears to be retribution for the brother finding a 292 pound load on their place. Rob was found along with his dog, both shot, him still sitting in the polaris which was still running hours later when they found him. Gonna be some pissed of ranchers in that area, I wouldnt want to be a smuggler they find roaming across their pastures thats for sure.

I have a feeling we passed by there, the day I hunted with Randy Shaw. Is there a place near by, where it seems like everybody has a telescope in a dome on their roof? Like it's a group of astronomers?
Good hunting. LB
edit: Danny; it's COYOTES-R-US and primarily a trapping board. I got elected a moderator of the calling forum, a surprise, never asked for it, just one day I'm a GLOBAL MODERATOR? I have not disputed it but don't treat it as a moderating job, at all. I think it's a sort of conflict of interest, but I don't want to embarass anybody by asking to become a simple member. I'm just not going to boss anybody or do anything that you might expect a moderator to do? It doesn't receive much traffic, so I contribute when I can. Tim explained to me how to get there. I may have been on that ranch before? Not sure, but if not, very close. That is a very sad deal.
If they decide to open season down there, find out how much tags are and what the bag limit is and Ill head that way. Always thought they outta open season anyway. This is a great time to do it. It would stop a lot of our problems once the word spread down south.

Yeah, it is strange, but the owner, Steve something? is a liberal. Who can be involved in this type of activity and not understand that the Democratic party is anti all outdoor activities, trapping, hunting, firearms, everything we do!
It is a shame that hunters and outdoorsmen in general are not more "joiner" types? I think most hunters understand that, inspite of their other faults, the Republicans consider shooters as part of their fan base and for the most part, listen to them. This is in direct contrast to Democrats and union members. They only listen to union management and a lot of the rank and file don't agree with how their money is spent to influence independents.
Good hunting. LB

Steve Gappa, has written some, for the various trapping magazines. His politics aside, he's always been pretty fair (at least with me), and pretty knowledgable in the arena of trapping.
He's a "reject" from Trapperman, and started his own board, so, he can't be all bad, or good... eh Leonard?
Ok, so now I a confused, again, if Vic is Az-Hunter... who the heck is this Aznative guy, that I thought was another one of Vic's personalities?

I had a rift with management of TrappenMan quite some time ago. I stopped posting there when I found out how much left wing they were. I still don't understand how a bunch of trappers got hood winked into a forum that was ran by left wing, radical nut jobs.
