Anybody know anything about the area?
Sort of casually looking at a job there. The pay isn't very good but it would be in the communications field where I have about 28 years of experience, not the instrumentation and controls crap I've been doing for the last 1.5 years.
The first thing that scared me was a look at Wy. demographics that showed a median home price of $188K. That is either a misprint, or there must be a bunch of yuppies living somewhere in the state to inflate the prices like that. The median income was only in the low 40's - how do you afford a house like that on that kind of salary?

Don't know a thing about Wyoming, but the home prices are up most likely because a bunch of dumb ass sandal wearing yuppies wanna move up there. Most likely from commyfornia. I googled wyoming home prices and this is the first hit that came up so it isn't a mistake:
http://www.abcrealestatedirectory.com/prices/states/Wyoming.htm
They can afford it because they are selling for 500k a home they bought 10 years ago for 100k that was worth 1,000k three years ago and are tired of the liberal dumb ass government over there, but they have ideas to improve wyoming once they get there. The same thing happened to colorado and oregon a few years ago.
Look to Idaho because those red necked white power idiot types scare those libratards totally crazy. Just a desert rats crazy idea.
Good luck

What jumped out at me from that link: "Average SAT Score 559". I think you get 500 points just getting your name right?
Good hunting. LB

Prices are so high due to the limited availability of homes, and the high wages paid to the gas and oil field workers. You are going to need a higher than average paying job to move there, just because the cost of living is so damned high.

Tim is correct and Douglas is on the south end of all the methane and coal so it is going to be an expensive place to live. Here where I am (Gillette) is the worst in the state price wise. Its right in the middle of the coal. Thats why I have numerous carreers going and don't own a house. It is a crappy place to try to make ends meet. I'm actually playing with the .20 mostly. I have shot the 6mm version for about a year now. I haven't had time to play with the 22 much. I am getting along with the 50 grain bergers in the 20, but haven't shot a coyote with it yet, just working loads and shooting paper.

Really?? Wow, good info TA. Who makes a 50 grain plastic tip? I can't imagine you not thinking that the 50 grain Berger varmint at 4000 won't be destructive enough, but if your sure I won't even bother with them.

Take it easy on Tim, I think he got his feelings hurt, this morning. We love ya, Tim.
Good hunting. LB
I can't help it....Cal, if you want destructive, you should be fooling with 224 and 243 boolits. One of the most destructive 6mm bullets I have used is the 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip, not to mention the .257 75 Grain VMax.

I did shoot those 70s for a while LB and they are wicked. But they never did shoot as well as others in my 243. I never had a performance problem just an accuracy problem and I know they shoot in alot of guns, just were finicky in mine. I was just giving Tim a good razzing and he needs it because sometimes he types before he thinks. (we all do I suppose). He has no experience with this caliber and case combination, but yets offers an opinion on what bullet I should shoot. Sounds damn near like PM to me. He should have put his post in the "ask the experts" column. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Friend bought a medium house in Big Sandy about 4 years ago, 1500 feet, cashed it out for under $40,000.00. I have seen lots of places for good deals. Any where along I-90 is higher. Carl

Tim, could you assign a dollar figure to "higher than average?"
Bofire - that sounds like my kind of place! I paid $44k for this not bad old farm house and ten acres. The last time I was home on a Sunday I counted 19 deer and 39 turkeys out the kitchen window. That is the kind of place I need to call home.
