Yep, it be true. About six weeks ago I was blowing snow off the ice in my driveway when my feet slipped out from under me. I felt my spine cracking when I hit the ice covered concrete, and it hurt like hell. Since my back still hurts, I had XRays taken the other day. My first lumbar vertebra is broke. They say that I am about 1/2" shorter now. Cool Huh?

It doesn't sound fun. Ouch.

No it's not cool!! That's probably going to bother you when you get old. Henceforth, take better care of yourself. Who's going to keep these young whipper-snappers in line if anything happens to you??
BTW; What the hell IS a 'whipper-snapper' anyway?????

Rich,
Now you and I have one more thing in common, besides making calls, and being crotchety...
I broke L1 in a slip and fall, about a dozen years ago.
I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I sure hate to hear that Rich...
Good thing you're in physical shape otherwise. That's the kind of everyday happening that can put some folks down for life.
Maybe you could pick up a few pointers from RcknBBar on hunting standing up!
How'd you end up with snow and ice in the desert? Just let it melt off like I do!

Koko,
Do I need to send you a picture of myself?

Forget those whipper snappers; since when is Iowa desert? This "RICH" is Cronk, not higgy baby. Am I missing something?
A couple years ago, I was up around Tonopah and got blown out, had to get a room in town until it blew over, which it never did, we packed it in without firing a shot. But, anyway. I slipped on some black ice in the parking lot, which was slanted, and took a nasty fall, right on my keester. Went down hard on my butt and cracked my elbow....shoulda sued Best Western? I was wearing vibram soles too, unlike those sneakers that Cronk wears!
Good hunting. LB

Cronk! Damn! Now I'm really embarassed!
Hey Rich... I haven't talked to you in a very, very long time! WOW! I'm sorry that all this time I thought "Rich" here was Mr. Higgins!
Last time we talked you were just getting back into hunting after your operation. I still have several Cronk calls and howlers hanging on my wall... even took one out the other night and stirred up a group of coyotes near the farm.
Yes Sir, I fully understand the, "Not in good shape Nikonut, just stubborn!"!

Don't worry about it. Everybody gets those two confused.
Then, at one time, somebody registered as Rich Cronk ! The real Rich indignantly pointed out the fraud and I was able to track it down to, of all people: Bruce Kennedy! (RIP)
But, mistakes will happen and it takes eternal vigilance; a daunting task for just a part time hobby. But, I do my best.
Good hunting. LB

And Leonard being a dang pin head, has forgotten that when I signed on to this board the very first time, I registered under the screen name of Rich Cronk. Leonard insists to claim that I am wrong about that. After the identity theft, I had to change my screen name to Rich. Sorry Leonard, but everyone gets to be wrong now and then. It is you this time, but I forgive you. Now we have members getting me mixed up with Higgins. Hell, everybody know that I am the handsome one. It is a horrible thing to be mistaken for an ugly devil like Higgins.

And, if Rich knew how this program worked, that it is impossible to reregister a duplicate name, he would realize that I'm right and he is mistaken. LB

Wait a minute!?!? Did Bruce just post the above!?!?
I'm so confuseified!?!?
Rich Cronk (the un-imposter one) I am so sorry to hear about your back! I broke L-4 when I was a 17 year old. I still haven't recovered. LOL Is it a stress facture? A clean break? Will you have surgery? Wear a corsett (that's not a joke, I had to wear one for 11 months - looks like an old-fashioned girdle though)?
I truly am sorry to hear it. You can't so much as jiggle a finger without causing your back pain I bet.
I'm agonna send up a request for you!
Feel better bro'!

Come on, Loco! I KNOW his password, and Bruce past away last year, ya know? The point is, he created the account to mess with Rich and I suspended it a long time ago. Cronk thinks he registered his name, but he is mistaken....must be his pain medication?
Good hunting. LB

"blow a cronk" what a clever fellow that Bruce!

Rich, I'm real sorry to hear about your back. It is he11 getting old, I sure know what that is like. Luckily, I don't know what a broken back feels like, just a bad one. I've been streching and excersizing mine to try and stay off the muscle relaxers. I'm tired of always feeling tired.

Tell me about it...I tried excercise but that made me even more tired!?!?
Posted by Locohead (Member # 15) on January 28, 2010, 07:27 PM:
...then I tried lifting weights but they were waaaay too heavy!
Posted by Rich (Member # 112) on January 28, 2010, 07:55 PM:
Since I was the very first to Register here under the screen name Rich Cronk, there was no need for Bruce to create it again now was there? Hell NO. I probably screwed up and used the same password here as the one I had used on John-Henry's board. Bruce Kennedy had more than a little bit to do with the John-Henry board ya know. All he had to do was type my password in over here, and Voila! I ain't right all of the time, but I dang sure know what screen name I used when I signed up over here. It's OK to be wrong Leonard, I mean shucks you have a lot to keep up with on this board. You were wrong, but I still luv ya--You Pin HED!

Holy Cow!
I guess I caused a real good one!
Leonard and Rich going at it like this must seem like old times! Never got to meet Bruce but he must have been a real character from all accounts I've heard.
Best luck on your back healing up Rich!

Oh we are only having a friendly disagreement. Just a couple of old timer's hacking on each other a little. All is well.

The funniest image of old farts going at it was in the World Series, one year when the Red Sox had Don Zimmer and the Dodgers third base coach was Tommy Lasorda. Those two went belly to belly, yet their arms weren't long enough, nobody landed a blow. It was hilarious.
Good hunting. LB
PS But, if he wants to settle this mano y mano, I can challenge him to a leg wrassle just like I whooped John Henry.
