But, she isn't too excited about it. Presented her with this starter kit earlier today and told her "Only 12 more and you've got that full-length coat you've always wanted!!!"

I've heard of them letting out hides to make them larger so it takes fewer pelts. Can they do the opposite and take in a hide so it looks like it has full hair coverage? I'd try it on myself, but I'd look even goofier with my ears touching on top of my head (beat you to it, Behle!).
I thought about doing a shoulder mount for her with him grinning, but then I checked his teeth - this coyote was a redneck...

In all seriousness, if you can honestly take this coyote seriously, the late December siege has been protracted this year and the coyotes are still making me earn each and every one. In the last three weeks, I've only seen, maybe if I'm lucky, one coyote in every eight stands. This poor bastard came in on a cat setup this morning from straight downwind. Whacked him in the nose with a load of #4 buckshot at 15 yards. I'm all but certain it was a suicide mission. If I were him, it would have been. I'm not gonna brag, Lance, but our local coyotes never look that ratty, not even close. What are you feeding? lol
Good hunting. LB

An evil mind might suggest using that pelt to make a hair-piece, but since the CDude is the go to guy for raptor questions I'll just sit here and be nice.
Speaking of which; Can raptors get rabies or is that a 'wrong species' thing????

I really don't know what the current feelings are on that, but I know we often discussed it when I was working with owls, since Great Horned Owls love to kill and eat skunks.
Speaking of skunks, I actually called one today! I was trying to call a bobcat when he came waddling over a berm of dirt alongside a pond. He started moseying toward the caller and I wondered to myself if he was actually coming to the call or just happened to be going that way. The caller was on top of a stump and he walked right up to it, stood on his hendlegs with his front feet on the stump, got a good snootful, turned and ran like hell for about fifty yards getting outta there. That was a first.
FWIW, I prefer my hairline right where it is - somewhere on the backside of my head. I spend very little time grooming in the mornings, beyond shaving and showering. Even if I could grow a headful, I wouldn't. Way too use to the low/no maintenance set up I have now. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Hey CDog, I think Koko's on to something there. And that fur on top would keep your head from freezing up. It'd probably be low maintenance too!

I sure could have some fun with the skunk thing but I won't (least wise not right now).

Hmmm just noticed this: "This guy automatically knows more than any PM Moderator" Don't know if that is to be a compliment or insult although it is one of the nicer insults I have been subjected to of late!

Maybe so, Tim. It sure worked for that coyote through the recent cold spell. You really have to wonder how those tough bastads survive that kind of cold. I mean, it was -11 here two weeks ago, for several days.
