I took my 5 critters and chick to go see The Christmas Story in IMAX 3-D about 2 weeks ago.
$96.00 just to get in!!! Its a dang good thing we smuggled in candy, pops, and water from the gas station!!!
I know nothing of the agenda and such but as far as special effects etc., it looks really cool. I'd be willing to dish out another few bucks for me and the wifey to see it in IMAX 3-D.
How did you like it Pepe? Was the liberal agenda apparent?

I just went because of the buzz, a big time event, and you know when you feel stupid because you don't know what others are talking about?
Right, just like here on Huntmasters.
No, but I did hear about the messages, (pick the downtrodden) and they were there, but easily ignored.
First time for IMAX 3D for me, seems a bit steep, $16, but $13.50 with a senior discount. (I lied)
But, I encouraged a real skepticical gf to go with me. I am not brave enough to attend movies alone...you never know who's going to sit next to you, with a wide stance.
On the way, she calls her daughter and tells her what we intend to do and her daughter screams; "Don't go, you'll hate it"!
Half way through the film, she leaned over and whispered; "This is a very good movie", and at the end, she was clapping along with many others. You don't really see much clapping at the end of a movie, in a theater, but they clapped. I did myself, a couple self conscious claps.
Okay, you have to suspend your disbelief BIGTIME. I enjoyed the movie and am glad I went, one reason being I know what it's about while some/most of you are in the dark. It's empressive film making.
Good hunting. LB

I rarely waste money on anything that eminates from Hollywierd. If I must see it it will soon be on dvd or directTV. I am very picky about what I will stand in line for. Soon we may all stand in line for gubmint health care and cheese! Blue beings being put upon by the evil humans is not high on my list. I understand its just entertainment but they always in all ways have an agenda, Fuck em! Oh and merry christmas.

Clapping at the end of a movie? I don't recall ever seeing that. Maybe just be a CA thing? Might have to treat the wife to this Avatar movie. I can probably get the senior rate too (if I lie). ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

I doubt this movie would have anywhere near the same impact on DVD?

The new-generation 3d technology is some purty cool stuff. That's for sure. And, some of the current movies are pretty good. I went to see the Blindside a couple weekends ago and it is a damned good movie. Maybe because it's true? Who knows.
Not all movies are whacked. My favorite of all time has to be Saving Private Ryan, especially the first 28 minutes. The second time I saw it was while I was in training for USPS 12 years ago and I had some time to kill one afternoon. There must have been fifty old men in that theatre who, as it turns out, were WWII veterans who were there on Omaha beach. About 18 minutes into it, I turned around from my seat near the front of the theatre and found a lot of old men with tears in their eyes and their wives holding them. I guess, from listening to them afterwards and seeing other vets interviewed on the news, that the first battle scenes there were overly realistic for the guys that had lived it in real life. They said it was the closest that anyone had ever come to truly depicting a battle scene.
Most of the 3D stuff we see is for our daughter. I wanted to hit the new Christmas Carol but just didn't make it. Avatar does look like a must see, if for no other reason than it is the first of what will be the next generation in filmmaking.

I'll second "the Blindside" as a great movie. Just got back from taking my daughter to it, well she went with me anyway. Best movie I've seen in a long time.

Not a Kalifornia thing, at least I don't think so? Seeing that movie in 3D digital is around nine bucks, but IMAX theaters cost more, even in Alaska.
I leaned over and whispered to my date that I get a little dizzy looking over the edge of these cliffs! She said she did too. It really puts you right in the movie, and it is gorgeous, the colors are brilliant.
Good hunting. LB

Dave Allen,
Feel relieved that your daughter actually went to the movie. I know when I was a teenager taking a gal to the "movie" was the excuse for other extra curricular "activities." Most kids didn't even step foot in the movie theater, but they sure went lots of them.
So if your daughter is telling you to go see Avatar, it means she actually watched it. Good sign for you.
It looks like your safe for now anyway.

Hey Lonny,yeah I'm safe for now,I think ?
She just turned 15 and her boyfriend is still 14,so neither can drive yet. His dad dropped em' off at the theater because I had to work.
She gave me a pretty detailed description of the "flick" so I'm pretty confident they didn't sneak away.."Whew"
Now this time next year,I really gotta' worry

You guys are judging all these boys by the standards and conduct you used at that age. It's poetic justice that males like us have daughters, and know what can happen. I was a terror and hereby apologize to every girl I ever dated.
But Clinton didn't help. Opra said a few years ago that twelve year old girls did not consider oral sex as "sex".
Merry Christmas, everybody. LB
PS Oh yeah, BTW. The things I was able to "accomplish" in a theater shall not be recounted here. Sleep peaceful, fathers.

Poetic justice indeed,oh' yeah I'll be sleeping with one eye closed and the other open for the next 3-5 years
