Fellows and gals, I am so tired that I can hardly type this, but here goes. Sometime between 12:10 a.m. this morning and 4:50 a.m. two nice guys broke in our home on the end where my "Mancave" is located (converted attached garage), and stole my Nikon Coolpix camera, my wallet and all I.D. and credit cards, all my guns, and then had the audacity to go through the house down the hall right past both my bedroom and my wife's, with the door open in both, into my lit up office, and stole my cellphone and charger, and then came back down the hall, and took my wife's handbag, and brought it back into my "Mancave", dumped everything in it into my recliner and stole her wallet and I.D. and all credit cards and her check book, and naturally all money in both wallets. When she got up at 4:50 to go fix coffee, she saw the back door open and thought maybe I was up and had gone out to my shop to get some tools, wood, etc., which I do pretty regularly, so she opened the door into my mancave, and saw that the venetian blind on the window they came in was up at an angle, and the front door was standing open. She knew something was bad wrong then, so she came back down the hall to get me up, but I was just coming down that way anyway.
Last night was the first night in over 3 weeks that I slept over 3 hours, and there was no way they could be sure my schedule if you could call it that. To think they were brazen enough to come through the house knowing that the craziest possum to ever carry was in there blows my mind. The Browning Abolt silent stalker with the 4 x 16 x 50 Bushnell Elite has been responsible for over 600 coyotes out of my total kill over 17 years, and the other two were never hunted with, the T/C Encore Pro Hunter 204 and the Stoeger Model 2000 12 guage. I hope the police at least get that 243 back as it was recovered once before after a break in.
I wish the Good Lord would just let me catch the sorry bastards . I'll be on trial if I do. I burglar proofed all the windows today and the man is coming tomorrow to install a security system, and I am installing a deadbolt into the door leading into the kitchen.

Real sorry to hear about the break in Al. Fools like that will make a mistake and get caught sooner or later. Sounds like they knew your home setup and schedule almost too well. Notify the local Pawn shops and your cell phone company. Maybe the clowns made some calls from your phone and still have the thing on, possibly giving the police a chance to ping it and triangulate where they're at.

Al sorry to hear of your troubles, but the good lord won't allow you to catch them if you think being on trial for world possesions is worth it.

All appropriate steps have been taken with the cellphone people, the bank, the credit cards, and most of all the investigating detectives. I am not going to do anything to impede their efforts, and that's a for sure fact. At the same time, I am not inhibited a bit by laws that protect the criminals instead of the victim. If I personally handled some retribution, it wouldn't be because of what they stole; it was because they violated our home, our privacy, our security. If God is going to protect them by having me not find them, perhaps He won't want them caught by the authorities either. I don't believe that way, but don't criticize others if they do. In my opinion, when they came through that window, they removed themselves from the human consideration group and effectively made themselves vermin. I have killed a lot of coyotes, and I surely don't actually hate them. In fact, I respect them a lot for their ability to survive, but I still kill all of them I can to help the other animals and the farmers. I don't have near as much feeling for these perps.

Was it NASA's sig. line that used to say "Where am I going, and why am I in this hand-basket?" I can't remember but dern it, seems that's the way things are going lately. I'm so sorry that you had that happen to you. Wow, I can understand your fury of having your home, your safe place, being violated like that. Hope they get 'em! ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

I'm sure sorry to hear it, Al. I've absolutely no use for a thief.
Some years ago I recognized the signs of a deteriorating society and bought myself a big safe for the important material possesions. We keep a dog in the house at night as well, and while I'm not sure if she'd bite or not (she might if we weren't there, but never has), but she'll let me know if someone's there that doesn't belong. She won't even let friends in the house 'till we say it's ok, and then she's friendly.
I hope they catch the perp's, but I have little faith in our justice system.

Yeah, that aught to teach him a lesson! In economics, at least.
I had my Honda broken into one Sunday morning. As I went to get the paper, the car was half way out in the street with the door open. Apparently, they couldn't defeat the steering wheel lock?
I called Upland PD right away and told them that I was missing my cell phone and about one hundred dollars that was in the ash tray. Within twenty minutes, an officer brought me the cell phone.
Apparently released an hour prior to me calling, it was four asian teenagers, with my money, just sent home to their moms?
Being "children" I was never told their names or anything about them and nobody seemed to care about my money or my damaged ignition. They were remanded to the juvenile court in four different districts and I never heard a word, big hush hush. Not that it was any great loss, but it always urked me that they got away with breaking into, (at least) four cars and had four stolen cell phones in their posession, plus my money, which was the only item not returned. Go figure?
Good hunting. LB [ October 04, 2009, 08:59 AM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Mom probably sent them out "collecting". Very little would surprise me these days.
And if their poor, misguided kid turns up with a toe tag, they'll sue you for wrongful death. Heck, if their kid hurts himself breaking into your car, they'll sue you for that, too.
I've never had a problem around here (Daryl knocks on the wooden computer desk). I think it helps to lead any questionable neighbors into thinking you're crazy though.
