Hi fellas. First post on the board.

I've searched until I'm dizzy and can't find it. Maybe somebody can hopefully help me out.

Awhile back there was a discussion going on about calling sounds and the subject came up about 3 Toes and the coyotes he raised or is raising. The talk turned to coyote distress or kiki sounds and the fact that 3 Toes had recorded some of those types of sounds for use by Foxpro.

Anybody remember that thread and where I might find that it?

Thanks in advance.

PS. It's entirely possible that thread didn't start as a sound thread and somehow got into talking about sounds. I really don't remember.

Cal can tell us for sure, because I'm not positive. But I "think" that Foxpro hasn't released those sounds to the public yet. If they are the ones I'm thinking of, and I'm not just on glue, they should be available soon though.

Thanks for the reply DAA.

I'm may be a little screwed up on board names here also. Is 3 Toes and Cal Taylor one and the same guy?

If 3 Toes and Cal Taylor are not one and the same, it might of been a thread where Cal Taylor was talking about suppling sounds to FP from some coyotes he had/has.

Well, no reply from old Jack. Not sure what kind of fishing expedition that was.

LOL Cal. After the recent fiasco with Andy's WT thread I was almost afraid to ask anything.

But here goes. From the reading I have done here I'm of the understanding that you have supplied to FP some (a bunch?) of real live coyote vocalizations from a coyote(s) that you have raised.

I presume any of the coyote sounds listed by FP that start with a C are sounds that you recorded of your coyotes?

Cutting to the chase, I'm thinking about buying a FP-CS24 caller. I've always used nothing but prey distress sounds for calling coyotes and I never felt I was handicapped or missing out by not using coyote sounds. In fact there are only about 4 maybe 5 distress sounds that I like and mainly use most of the time. Right or wrong, that is honestly how I feel.

If I buy this CS24 caller it will come with 50, FIFTY, friggin sounds of my choosing. My God, what kind of a caller needs FIFTY sounds? LOL. I don't figure I do. But since I do get em with a purchase, I figure I might as well get some coyote sounds on it and see for myself if I have been missing out all these years.

My main question to you Cal, could you, would you be willing to recommend some good coyote sounds, maybe 6 to 10, that you feel would be good to have on an e-caller?

Thanks for your time.

Well I understand your concern with the other threads. That is part of the reason I assumed maybe your question was a fishing expedition for one of the other call companies. You are correct about the call numbers. All that start with a C are stuff I recorded. I am confident in all my sounds as working in some situations. They all have a place. One thing that I have worked out with FP is that these sounds get a good wringing out by me and the other field staff before they are released. If they don't produce, we don't release them. I added a couple new wild coyotes this summer and have some new stuff that is really good. Its like a damn zoo around here! Some of it is being tested by the field staff right now and some is still being put together. I have added a male coyote for some sounds and we have some really good group sounds. So in answer to your question I believe that all of the coyote sounds that are currently available that I recorded are productive and wanted to let you know that we will be releasing some new stuff soon that will also. There will be both some new pup sounds and some new adult sounds. Hope this helps with your decision.

Thanks Cal.

How many coyotes do you have penned up on your place?

I have 3 currently, plus two farmed out to a couple friends that I can record when I want. We have also done some recording in the wild with Steve.

What state are you in LJ?
