Hey Cal. Does that rank with a triple on coyotes?
How about a little play by play, starting with; pulled my boots on.......
Good hunting. LB

JW, I am shooting a PSE X Force. Set at 82 lbs.
LB, No big story really. Hunted a few days last week on National Forest stuff. Over the weekend there were too many guys around as usual and all were running here and there calling so I went to a wallow I had found and hung a treestand and sat quietly. This guy came slinking in and got an arrow run through his ribs. He fell about 50 yards from where I shot him. I've killed bigger and better with a bow, but character has to count for something. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

You know what? Discussing Nationalities with Lochi, when I hunted with him. He said Spaniards were very macho, insisting on male animals even when the female oryx, for instance, has better horns, and the zebra, you can't tell unless you are really close, which ain't gonna happen.
Americans are obsessed with the record book. No surprise there.
But, what I found interesting was the attitude of German hunters. They want odd stuff, freaky antlers....jusst like what you have.
Takes all kinds. LB
PS when we were talking about zebra, we were looking at a group and he indicated that it was impossible to tell which was the stalion, etc. I gave him my opinion; seemed obvious to me. Just like mustangs, it's the behavior, the one separated from the rest, even if it is only a few feet. I don't know if he ever explored that theory, or not?

Wow, Cal, that is one dandy bull. I remember the pics of the monster a couple seasons back. Your bull makes the freezer-filling-cow I shot the other day look kinda bald(and it was).

Nice bull, Cal. Have spoke with severa locals who are heading out soon to hunt CO. I hope a couple of them tag out and well since elk are one of my favorite mounts to do.
Must be my german blood because I would much rather get a rack with odd crap then a symmetrical buck, back when I was deer hunting. My customers run about half and half - half like nontyps, the other half wouldn't shoot a cactus buck if it was standing on their foot.

Damn nice Cal. I'll be happy if I can find his long lost little brother this bow season. Headin' back up tomorrow after work, hopin' that they'll be started getting a little vocal.
But I did spend last weekend shooting my share of dove in KS. It beat trying to hunt elk around hikers, bikers, bird watchers, campers, dirt bike riders, and all the other yahoo's that go up for one last "camping trip" for the season. Not to mention the fact that trying to come back from the mtns. on a Labor Day weekend is NOT my idea of fun!! [ September 09, 2009, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: TRnCO ]

Holy Smokes CalMan! He's beautiful!!!
I'd be careful calling that a 7 pointer though. That could be the World Record Non-typical Spike!

I don't know about Cal but I'd trade 47 coyotes for that bull, especially if I could shoot it with an arrow on public ground. Phenominal Cal! Isn't your boy getting to be about big game age? It's 12 in CO.
Dan Carey, before you bust my juevos on the spelling of 'phenominal' see http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=phenominal

Loco, My boy (Sage) has been hunting for 3 or 4 years now. I thought I had posted some pics, but if not......
On another note thats not just a spike on the other side. I couldn't do any better with the self timer on my camera, but this bull has 2 or 3 small points on the back of the spike and a large club that hung down by his face with several points on it also. Cal, nice shooting and that is a different looking elk. My boy is out in Montana hunting elk right now. Haven't heard anything from him yet. He did say he was not going to do any calling as there are soo many people on public land doing that. He is hunting around the Jackson area. I'm surprised how cold it gets at night. Very nice picture of your boy also. Treasure the moments, they grow up in a hurry.
