Feet of snow, 40 mph winds. We will be digging out for a while. Been stuck here with roads closed since Sunday night. 6 ft dog pens were blown level full of snow, finally got all of them dug out. Been feeding the cattle here because the owner can't get to them. Thankfully he has a big JD 4wd tractor that he keeps here. I had to ride my snowmobile to town this afternoon for chew.

Been hearing about it on the news. Both I-80 and I-25 were closed. That'll green up some grass, once it all melts! It would be nice if some of it would make it down here though. One of the driest winters on record, and the ranchers/farmers are in need of moisture for the crops and grass. It's horrably dry in these parts.

Sorry to hear about the mess Cal, but I can't help but find some humor in the situation. The wife & I tenatively scheduled a trip out thru Colorado & Wyoming for this week. She asked how warm it would be and I reminded her that we couldn't rule out snowstorms.

Had business not picked up, I'd probably be wearing out my welcome at TR's right now with half my itenerary buried under your Wyoming snowdrifts!

It was 73 here today: rain from that front is blowing in tonight.

Twenty foot drifts, huh Cal? That's what I call a snow storm! I haven't seen a blizzard like that since 1949, and that was in nebraska. The military came to pick us up at the one room country school with one of those rubber track rigs they called a Weasle. I'm betting that the snow was even deeper in Wyoming at the time.

Yeah, sounds like you had a little spring storm, Cal? I remember a weekend I spent in southwest Wyoming blowing 14 ft. drifts, back in the early seventies. Nobody could get out of town, all the resturants were out of food. 'course, you don't go back that far, but it was brutal.

Now, speaking of going back a ways.......Rich, were you teaching those children? [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

Good grief LB I'm glad you think I'm that young. [Smile] But believe it or not I was around in the early 70s. I'm a 64 model.

Leonard,
If Matt Dillon had been running things, you would have got out of town or he would have showed you the real meaning of brutal.
[Big Grin] I was teaching the other boys how to properly treat the girls in that one room school. I believe there were three real girls in the school, not counting the teacher. The teacher was actually living with my parents too. My Dad tried to get to our school with tractor and wagon one day that same winter, but got the tractor stuck. He walked on to our school, and made us all hold hands while he led us through the canyons where he were somewhat out of the wind. We made it to our ranch house just fine. That was some winter!

They're calling for 12" in NW Oklahoma friday and saturday, we could get 2-6". Our world would come to a stop if we got "feet" of snow.

Cal, we got the southern end of that storm. Big wind and rain. I was watchin it on the radar and was thinkin about you. That storm kinda stalled out over you and actually turned around and came back from east to west. Thats usually bad ju ju when that happens.

Glad to hear your ok.

I've been watching that radar too. My youngest is driving back from Indiana right now. I hope things stay clear for him. He's twenty years old, and doesn't know which head to think with. He couldn't find a needy enough woman here in AZ so he had to fly back and import one.

Hey Cal, Did you know that if you poke a horse in the nose with the leads on that collar, while holding down the buttons in your other hand, the horse will not only get out of your roses, but he won't come back to feed on them again?

Open range is nice, but we weren't expecting horses. I was working 12 hour days and it was a long week before I could get a fence built.

That is some funny shit there Tim! But I don't have any roses so I hadn't tried that!

BTW, It's snowing again.

Well they are calling for 16 inches here and 24 just to the east with 50 mph winds. I think it will be short lived with highs on Saturday near 50 and 60s on Sunday. Bring it on as far as Im concerned we need some green grass bad, just wish it was going to stay in one place and not end up in the fences and ditches.

I think we got 4 flakes here in San Antonio this year. Could have been leaves though.
