A scan from dad's collection from WWII. Testing a new scanner, never owned one before.

Joe, Bump the bottom left side of the scanner to the right. It's slightly catty-whampus. Other than that, it's working great. Now........What IS that thing??

Here's another vintage photo. Im sure originally it was captured in shades of sepia for the original tin type, but I had it colorized for clarity:)

Joe, You can't post a pic of a dead croc from WWII without a story. I used to work with a retired electrician who was in WWII and when I could get him telling war stories it was always very enlightening.
AZ, is the fellow with pork chop side burns you?
Good photos gents.

No Lonny. That's me, about 1969-70, or so? The funny part is it was taken right down in Vic's neighborhood on a little extended safari through Texas, New Mexico and southern AZ. I was going to school at the time and didn't make it back, that day, because hunting was too good. And, also the fact that we made a wrong turn in Demming. Not my fault, I was sleeping. I got dropped, excessive absences. How about those sideburns?
Good hunting. LB

I recognise the skyline behind you, but how long has that Railroad been gone?

Yeah, Dan. At least it used to be in NM, far as I know? I told the crew up front to make a right at Rodeo and assumed they would know which way to turn when they reached the interstate. I wuz wrong.
Good hunting. LB

Hey, I finally see the croc?
Taken in Tonopah, NV 1979
Owens Valley, CA My son's first bobcat, 1980.edit: wait a minute! Wrong pic, I think that's a "yote"?
This is one of my favorites. 1969 My cousin is learning not to stop and downshift..... and it's starting to rain!
Good hunting. LB
edit: it was 1969, I know, it was a new Datsun PU. 1971 was probably when the film was developed?
edit: ma, this scanning shit is a lost art, as far as I'm concerned! [ December 17, 2008, 02:59 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Great pictures! I don't figure that cowboy next to you in the first picture would be onecoyote but it very well could be because of his "looks" a generation or two ago! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Scanner bumped for Koko:

Lonny, not much of a story ever told, I guess the damned thing just wandered in to camp one day. It was killed with a barrage of .30 M1 carbine fire and 45's from a M1A1 Thompson and a 1911. I have that pic around here somewhere, too.
I got some of them early 70's coyote pics to scan in. Just lookin for the right ones. Seems like there is a song out now that says something about being a cross between "Hair Boy" and man.... that would about sum it up.
Meanwhile, not vintage, but one of my favorite hard-copy coyote photos scanned in:

Yeah, I sure knew Richard Copper and his little brother Johnny Copper. They owned a store across the street from the Agajaians. If you had no money you could sign an IOU and leave with some food. Buy now, pay later back in those days. I know where Rodeo is, not far from Animas. Killed a nice desert mule deer down that way plus a few coyotes. Leonard, you snowed in yet? That's right, but Johnny Cooper ain't little anymore. He owns a construction business in phoenix. Richard lives next door to me in Rancho.
Snowed in? Weeell, not yet. Been raining all day, temperature is below 40º right now. I talked to my son earlier and he said it was blizzard conditions out in Banning, more snow than he has seen in about eight years.
Good hunting. LB

Be thankful for the rain. We just received 29" of snow in the last 30 hours. I am tired of shoveling the driveway. Maybe I'll just hibernate.
Great photos gentleman.

There is something "Hollywood" about that 12/23 pic of Vic.
Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry (best movie ever) meets Easy Rider..... Something like that.
