I don't know when it started, but I noticed the smaoke late this morning. Yorba Linda is about ten miles south of me, downhill. Man, it looks like another bad one, every local channel has coverage, I'm back and forth between the USC/Stanford game, it's halftime, tied at 17 pts. Our star Quarterback at Upland HS is going to Stanford next year. Hmm?

Good hunting. LB

Until Calif. embraces the concept of the controled burn.......things are going to burn out of control.

You know how easy it would be to get all the enviro wackos, bunny huggers and assorted greenies to agree to controlled burns? One of the problems we have is listening to these people. They are all chicken Littles and their sky is always falling.

Good hunting. LB

Not that hard to do. Just tell the dings that it was what the Native Americans, the true stewards of the land, blah, blah, used to do to maintain harmony with Mother Earth blah, blah, and they'll line up wringing their hands & singing kumbya to tom-toms.

History lesson; Just off of The Valley of San Fernando in Los Angeles lies Topanga Canyon, a scenic route to the ocean. Thru a massive 'Smokey the Bear' program, there were no fires in that canyon for over 25 years. When it finally did burn, it burned so hot from the accumulated fuel that it killed everything including the tree roots. Total moonscape & mudslides for years afterwards. Unfortunatly, we learned nothing from it.

I thought they had controled burns in southern California? Just before I left they had a controled burn that got out of control.

I seen it burn from Hesperia all the way over the mountains to were you live Leonard, that had never happend before. It was because of the bark beetles and millions of dead trees.

Southern California brush and forest fires have been going on forever, just part of leaving there.

The same old problem, lots of fuel and lots of people = lots of fires, though many are caused by nature.

No fires out here, nothing to burn.

I have not turned on the TV, but I don't see the smoke like yesterday?

Yeah, we have had controlled burns on occasion, I don't keep track, but there have been a few that got out of control, as I recall?

What we do have is conditions and cycles. Rain followed by undergrowth, followed by dry weather, followed by careless people and firebugs.

Other than that, I don't know why we seem to have more than our share of friggin' brushfires? And, it don't matter where you live, Oakland to San Diego, coastal to inland, flatlands and canyon country. Fuk this place, I want to get the hell out.

Good hunting. LB
