Sorry about that Leonard. Did you try putting youre head between youre knee's?
The wife did a great job of down loading the software but when it came time to down loading my vidio's she locked up the comp. and i had to reset it back a day so it would work again. then i had to figure out how to get it into photo bucket and to also post it on other sites. Man O man my hair hurts..LOL Well i think i got the bugs out and will order a scope mount for the cam so the pic's won't be to hard on Leonard.. ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

LOL. I did'nt have the scope mount for it yet so i just shot with one hand and used the other to balance the cam on top of the scope.. The next vidio's will be better..

Tim, I went through all that you are doing when videoing. It's pretty hard as you are finding out. Here is my set up now and it works pretty good. You still have to mess around and get the target in the middle of picture. I had to shim my camera up with a pc. of teflon and then tighten the hell out of it. The last time I used it before I made the changes, all I got was the coyotes head. I threw the box away that the cam-corder mounts to the scope with so I can't tell you the brand. Perhaps someone on the forum can help out on this. I bought mine at the Varmint Hunter Jamboree silent auction for $75.00.

This looks like yours.
http://www.topratedadventures.com/Mfg/theRifleCam.htm
I use a unit that attaches to the front of my shotgun. It also has a velcro strap that attaches to the side of my rifle.
Many of these mounts throw off the balance of your gun as the mount + camera puts a significant amount of weight on the side of your firearm. Another downside is my camera goes inactive unless you push the record button or zoom in or out out every 5 minutes. I end up pulling the firearm up enough so I can push buttons and when I see a coyote I push record and ease the rifle down into a shooting position. It's very awkward.
I got by the weight issue by purchasing a super small and lightweight JVC hard drive video camera. No tapes. Hardly any moving parts. Not really too expensive. [ October 21, 2008, 01:50 PM: Message edited by: Scott F. ]

Scott, You are right about everything being off balance. They are also hard to cary with shoulder strap, as the camcorder digs into you back. I just carry my gun just holding onto the shoulder strap. I guess it is better than nothing if you don't have a partner to run cam-corder.

I've had one on my rifle for going on two years, it is what it is, it's not as good as someone there filming but it get's more than you will trying to run a camera next to ya on a tripod, IMO.
Well worth the money, it will put your camera to the test being out in the elements etc. Mine is about shot, it really takes a beating, dust, moisture etc. I leave mine on the rifle most of the time so it rides alot of miles in the rack on the gun bouncin etc.
Scott i had looked at the hard drive ones when they first came out and they, the salesmen, didn't think they could take the pounding. Yours is holding up though?
The gun shot doesn't seem to effect the video with this mount and you can clearly see the impact of the shot. Although it is always filming where the scope is pointing and you do get some awful good shots of the sky conditions the day you are filming it is nice.
Jerry if that keeps diggin into your back, you can do two things, either lengthen your sling or put some padding on the mount itself. Where the threaded hole on your camera is will determine if you have to alter the position of the camera. Sometimes you will only see the canting of the camera when you really get into using the zoom.
I've missed alot of great stuff but got quite a bit of neat stuff with it also. Makes some good entertainment when friends come over.
TA I've got some video just like that LOL, yea Leonard it will about make a guy car sick !!!!

Randy- My JVC hard drive video camera does alright. I have not used mine very much to gauge whether it can stand up to real recoil. Just a few .223 rifle shots.
I will use it this afternoon when I try calling in a fox that slipped away the other day and see if I can capture some footage for you. This will be a recoil test as the mount and camera will be on my Stoeger 12 GA.
Be back in a while.
Ok back.
Called fox in from about 150 yards out and shot it at about 30 yards and forgot to push the record button on the video camera. [ October 22, 2008, 06:49 PM: Message edited by: Scott F. ]

Hey, Randy, That sounds just like what has happened to me. Two coyotes came so hard and they were only 30yds away. I forgot to turn on the camera. Wouldn't you know it, I got both the coyotes with the help of good ole Wiley. I haven't got any decent film yet using the dang contraption. I had it out today and filmed some praire dog shots. Still got the big bump from rifle shock. I'm really not impressed with the thing.

The one I have has a recoil system built in. The camera mount has 2 small shock absorber like plastic pieces that allow the camera to shift forward and backward to compensate for the recoil. Saturday I'm heading out with Tyler and I will capture some footage and post it.

I willbe getting the same mounting system as Randy R uses. My cam is a little smaller than jerry's and it is digital with a added memery card holder and has 42X with 70x and 2000 X power boost.

My unit is from DeerRidgeInnovations.com

$49.99
It can fit on your shotgun or rifle.
I purchased some ThinSkin super thin tape and covered my camera mount and my small hard drive JCV camera and its completely camouflaged.

Randy, That happened a couple years ago when I first got the mount. Haven't killed a damn thing lately. Never even saw a coyote the last time out East Of Pierre. Jasons got them all I think. Pat and I were going this morning, but look what the wind was doing today. 40+ mph today. Plenty of good days left. Derek, got one hell of a nice muley. 182 green.

I see, yes it sure did blow today, over 40 mph about all day. The wife went out to retrieve the garbage container and it about took her for a ride.
I saw that pic of that muley, nice one. He's not shooting them while he is barefooted is he!!!LOL
I'll stop over this week, got hunters Tues thru Fri, should have an early day in there somewhere.
tell Paula Hi.

Randy, do you have your cam-corder on digital or optical. You probably know by now, the images are sharper using just the optical.
