Do any of you work out or do any type of conditioning on a regular basis? If so what and how often? Bodyweight exercises, kettlebells, heavy bag and speed bag and a few free weights are what I do when not computer geeking, working or hunting...
For you hardcore young guys. Do 200 squats in ten minutes. Sounds easy enough right. It's soooo easy that you should do it with some weight in your hands. Ten or fifteen pounds per hand should do...

This is the first season that I have "worked" out to prepare for elk hunting. All I'm doing is excercise bike, push ups, sit ups, and streatching. I'm done elk hunting now, I did stick a sharp stick through a little 4x5, but I felt good while in the mtns. and felt pretty good while packing the elk out. I got bad knees, and along with the daily gluecosimine, my work outs have made a world of difference. I look forward to going on some long walk-abouts this winter for coyotes. Now if I can just find a hunting partner that will be able to keep up with me.

Sounds interesting. Unfortunately, my life is full from working for a living, raising two kids, keeping my wife happy, writing, taxidermy, callmaking and drinking a beer once in a while with the neighbor guy. I think that if I tried to squeeze a couple hours a week of training into that mix, it would have to come from the quality time I get with the family and, as a result, I really wouldn't need to concern myself with how "buff" I look since the wife would probably lop off my package while I slept. End up being like a new 'Vette with no engine. What's the point? Besides that, I'm already in shape - round is a shape.
-------------------- I am only one. But still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something; and, because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

Smithers, I have done many types of physical traing in my younger days. Weight lifting was my favorite for a long time. I never enjoyed running, but was seriously involved in Kodokan Judo for several years. During that time I managed to win the 204 pound division of the midwestern judo championship tournament which was held in Des Moine, Iowa back in 1969. I also received two shoulder dislocations, two broken ribs, a broken bone in my left hand, and a broken big toe on my right foot. After that, I wisely entered the karate world where I managed to receive another broken rib and a broken right elbow. A kick I received to my right thigh caused internal bleeding in that area, which gave me the enjoyment of mucho pain and the joy of watching the bruise slowly bleed under my skin until it reached all the way to my dang toes. Moral of this story is never get into the contact sports unless you really enjoy pain a lot. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
