After a long battle against ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) Fred died Saturday night.
He's not been on the boards in a while, but I'm sure some of you will remember him. He is one of the Guys that I always looked forward to seeing at the ATA conventions.
He's going to be missed by a lot of us.

Tim, I got to meet Fred a couple times, a real nice guy and I know he loved predator hunting, this is a shock. I had no idea he had ALS.....God rest his soul.

I had the fortune to meet him once. I rode from Phoenix to Silver City New Mexico with Jay Nistetter and Fred. It was a really enjoyable trip. He gave me one of his calls and a video he produced. We lost another good one in Fred. Rest in peace my friend.
Good hunting.

That is a crying shame. Fred was a gentle giant. I just talked to him recently at Cabelas in Phoenix. We had a very good conversation. As far as i am concerned his video is one of the best ever made. And he made a great call too! The predator calling world is losing a real gentleman. The Good Lord is getting a saint.

Too bad about brother Fred. I have known for quite awhile that he was ill, but it still hasn't really set in that he is gone. We were not actually related as far as we know, but it was a light hearted joke on the boards a few years ago in regard to which Cronk was better looking. I have a Fred Cronk call in my collection, and will treasure it even more now.

Just got home. Yes, I knew Fred was very ill, but it's still a shock. He was a good guy, in my book, I liked him. R.I.P.
Good hunting. LB

May god bless Fred Cronk, a big man with a bigger heart. I can't say that I knew Fred very well, He was a guy we all should have known better. We did rub elbows from time to time and I enjoyed every minute of it. I've thought about him frequently especially after knowing that he was ill.
He made a great video, one of my very favorites, it's as good today as it was 20 or so years ago when he made it.
Thank you Fred for your life among us......
Michael
