Guy from Sturgis ran it. For the life of me I can't remember his name. His side kick was a guy named Norm. First place I met my buddy Doug and Crow Woman and Raven.
Had a chat room. That was neat.
Boy that seems like a hundred years ago.
Remember back when Ed Sceery was on the boards. I liked ole Ed
Didn't Ed and Wiley always argue the upwind/downwind thing??

I wasn't too keen to the internet in those days yet. I was a lurker but I don't think I even knew how post back then! I do keenly remember the coyote into the cab video. I was fooled. I am keen to the truth now though.

Wow! Now there is a site I haven't seen in a while! I think that was my third web site to build. I nearly got divorced over building it, and the first two. That was in the days before drag and drop page building. Everything was typed out by hand in pure HTML code. I even spent several evenings at the local college library reading text books on how to write it. It took almost a full week just to write out a single page, then go back and edit the previous pages with hotlinks and references to it.
I recognize Leonard's bio in the other link, but who's the young guy in the pictures?
Does Bob Davis still run Biker week up in Sturgis? The meanest thing he ever did was to install web cams in stratigic locations there in Sturgis, and give us all free access. Right up until the day all of the Bikers showed up, and then everyone who was wanting to check out the biker chicks suddenly found that they needed to pay $15 to use the web cams.

I met my coyote hunting partner there and remember several of the folks you talked about.
Wasn't it on the Posse board where Higgins first started putting horns on the E.L.K.'s or am I mistaken again?
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on August 16, 2008, 11:18 PM:
Shadetree and "Arizona Predator Posse" go together, brainchild of Bruce Kennedy. It's been gone a long time. Yes, the name of Bob Davis's Board was Posse Country . Actually, Huntmasters and Posse Country were created about the same time, basically because of the demise of Shadetree . Shortly after Will set up Predator Masters , Bob transfered the entire membership of Posse Country to Predator Masters and closed Posse Country . Huntmasters sort of languished as a satellite of the North American Hunters Board with onecoyote as moderator. He drifted away somewhere and I got lynched at Predator Masters and decided to take over Huntmasters and eventually split it off from North American Hunters . But, way back then, Predator Masters got a tremendous advantage by doubling their membership overnight, literally.
Huntmasters does not solicit members, its all word of mouth, and suffers from not having "predator" or "coyote" in the title for the search engines. So, as a consequence, we are much smaller, membership wise.
Good hunting. LB

Thank you Leonard. I knew most of it, but some of it I did not. The stuff I did know was kind of hazy so I'm glad I have it clear now. I do remember PM getting the Posse's membership which makes a bunch of the membership bogus, because I had to register again to get on PM. I know PM's number is hugely inflated, but you can't convince anyone else of it.
BTW, I had almost forgot about Coyote Gods. It seems that John Henry didn't like my weapon of choice nor my questions so I quietly exited their camp years ago. Stil a few boys on there though that I consider friends.

Krusty, I remember the "Bob" that you are talking about. I beleive he was a head honch at PM for awhile? It seems like I remember him being from CA. He was one of those guys that came in and was all friendly and posted a few pics and whoosh he was suddenly in power and like usual, things went downhill from there. Like many after him, this "Bob" claimed brotherhood to Will Craig even though Will was likely dead by the time that "Bob" took a job with PM. I think that was about the time Craig Hamilton was appointed spokesman and he was another poor choice. Heck, I think Leonard had to send him packing from HM, if I remember corectly?
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on August 17, 2008, 10:51 AM:
Craig wasn't banned. That was just another unfair situation, like Redfrog free to say what he wants over here, while I can't even use the search feature, over there. This is so obvious, I don't see why I need to mention it, but when traveling in that parallel universe as is PM, things obvious seem to be invisible?

Yeah, he was at the controls at PM, when the chat opened up, and word got out I could be found there, he spent about two weeks booting people off there, who just wanted a piece of me...
He'd let 'em tell me off, until they'd go too far then poof, they were gone.
If my memory serves me correctly, Robert "Stretch" Cobb, was spokesman and salesman at the time, if it wasn't Randy Black?
Now, the PM Chatroom...
We had a pretty good assemblage of people there, for the most part, long after most of us were banned from the forums.

Leonard, the point that surprises me about HM is that no one has figured out that this place is really the one in bed with FoxPro. Me, Dave, Rich, Vic, and several others that pretty much run this place are all FoxPro users. After the bashing that the Minaska/WT guys gave you at the monster house I can't believe that you haven't come clean and told them all the truth!
One other thing that some of you fail to realize is that if you take a company that sold tens of thousands of units last year (I know the real number, but am not at liberty to say) verses a couple other companies whos sales were in the hundreds there are bound to be more supporters of the brand with the most callers out there. Do the math.

/QUOTE]
I don’t overlook that fact and that’s one of the compelling reasons why I have avoided FP and will continue to avoid them. Nothing to do with quality or customer service .
It doesn’t take much pondering on my part to realize that if I want to locate coyote, I’d be much better off taking my wife out in the country and goosing her ass. Her voice howls would have a much better chance of getting howl backs than would tens of thousands of FP’s sounding like Bill Austin on one of his calls. It’s all about voice recognition and they will catch on if you over hit them with the same vocals and it really complicates things if other people are doing the same in your area. Coyote voices are controlled by genetics, just like humans, and it doesn’t take them long to know their neighbor from a stranger and in general will howl back quicker at a stranger than a neighbor(emphasis on in general) No idea how many FP’s are in my county but I’m getting the impression that it’s a lot. I might be better off using one of those “only sold a hundred last year brands”
With all this new found competion, I thinking i might get the fire for coons.
EDIT: How about that maidens guy and the reasons coyote pups howl back is because they think you are mom?
Sorry about the off topic.
Shade tree was about the first for me. But the hunting information board (HIS) campfire and several others had varmints and predator forums but weren’t basically geared to predators. When bob shut down he provided a link to PM, Bruce provided a link to CG. BTW, Bruce had the trade mark on Predator Posse and he was very quick to point that out. Might even been one of the reason for Bob to close his up. Any body remember the hogs in the dumpster and proposition whatever? That was about the end of ST.

Ah hell, I guess you can let them stay this time Leonard. I'm a big boy and they don't bother me much.
Greenside, You theory is fine I guess, and I agree on having sounds that aren't overused in a particular area as far as the distress sounds, but I'd have to disagree with you on locator sounds. I have used Bill Austin sounds (mostly the interrogation howl) since I had it on cassette and played it through the siren of my truck. Myself and a couple other guys that I know use it occasionally, trap some of the same country where Bill Austin worked. So theres probably 30 or 40 years of Bill Austin sounds in this area, and guess what, that interrogation howl still gets coyotes to answer. I had a pair answer it this morning. But on to another point, I also have some sounds that I have gotten elsewhere and use on my FoxPro. Plus I have some "personal" sounds that I keep to my self. It has nothing to do with the caller or company, you can put anything you like on it. You aren't limited to what comes with it. That is the plus side of brands (not just foxpro) of callers is that you can load sounds that you create or find yourself. I wouldn't own a caller now that didn't give me that capability.
On another note, as far as actual coyote sounds in FPs library, I know there are several new ones in the works. I have been testing several of them. Many of them I recorded from my own coyote. And they work.
Posted by Paul Melching (Member # 885) on August 18, 2008, 12:11 PM:
Currently I have about 184 sounds on my fx-5 only 50 of them are fp sounds.Still most of the time I use the same 8 or 10 sounds.Though it is nice to be able to change it up fromm time to time. I get bored hearing the same distress but it still brings the coyotes. And each year we have new ears to sing to.

Cal I don't have any issues with the sounds per se, it's just the number of potential users that could be in my area on any given day or weekend. And most of them haven't a clue on what they are doing or what effect they are having on coyote.
Around 1990 or early 90's we used to run his "Sunrise Serenade" though a 30 Watt speaker powered by the truck cassette player. Just plugged it into a female jack wired in line with a rear speaker. Yes it worked and worked good at the time. And I still have a coulpe of his tapes in my truck that I practise against at times.
Here again, I'm not saying it won't or don't work. I just can't see where I'd have the edge by using a sound that potentially could be used by thousands of others. And this game is really getting to be about who has the edge. My old Sceery truckhorn style howler works real good for me but that doesn't mean I'm going to go out a couple times a week with it and work the same coyote.
