I will be making the camp out this year,
What I like the help with or info on is are there any big game open that you don't need to drawl a tag for the same time I am there for the camp out
I am looking to be in AZ a week or so ,
fish and game sight is makes my head spin

Big George,
They have real big rattlesnakes in AZ that you could hunt with that compound bow of yours. Now that would be a game. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Rich , I have a 56'' belt that works real good on them there rattlers
Many have fell too the belt,,,, But I release 90 % of the ones I catch alive but I do keep some of the big ones
for the skins , 1 hand holding my pants up the other swinging the belt
the tile on the floor are 12 x 12
many of the hunters i have in camp like to take one for a mount so i kill about 20 a year but release way more un harmed

Depending on how early you come down, you can get a bear tag or archery deer and turkey. Also this year they offer a over the counter elk tag but they are in limited opportunity areas. Let me know what you are interested in and i will help point you in the right direction.
deer and turkey starts Aug 22 - Sep 11, 2008
there will be some bear hunts going on the same time as the camp out, but the best time for over the counter big game hunts would be aug. 22nd you can hunt deer, turkey and bear.

Clint i will be rolling into AZ on or around the 5th or 6th of oct, I was looking to give a deer a try for a couple days till the hunt.
I have no time limit on coming home , so if nothing ells i will see what happening at the *** , out by Globe, but look as if there sight is down now and i cant see what tags they have left.
but if you think of somthing let me know,
I may even stop in another state on the way out there and see what i can get over the counter

You could get a landowner elk tag in the state just to the east of the campout.

What do you think the damages on one of them is??? I am limited on funs, and try to keep trips low cost so I can do more of them,

You can resist the urge to hunt big game, George. Kind of a ripoff, these days, especially for nonres. hunters.

so I am just looking to make the most of it

I do have a good wife when it come to me hunting.
She knows I do 1 or 2 big trips a year, every year, And she also knows what it takes sometimes to get what i am hunting on the ground , so if I need extra days she usually just tells me to take the time i need to get it done, then come home.

You are a fortunate man, George.
Hunting tolerance was not something I was looking for in a mate, and I'm not complaining, but it did require "negotiations" on two levels; time away from the nest and expense. In other words, I was not a man free to do anything I wanted, whenever I wanted. Actually, it's better to have one sensible person to bounce ideas and plans off of.
I hunted with a bachelor for many years who explained (endlessly) how I could do everything I wanted to do without being hen pecked..his opinion. Of course, within a few short years after he finally married, I began to observe a few compromises in his independent lifestyle; as predictable as night, following day. I gloated silently.
But, a woman that understands a hunter is a treasure. And, visa versa. The woods are full of ex-husbands that never learned how to deal with conflicting priorities.

Being retired , and home trying to find something to do every day, I sit around thinking of things to do to drive her nuts till she ask me ,, in her words ( don't you have some place to go!)
Na , she treats me good,it's been close to 20 years we been together

Been there done that. I may joke around about it, but it's Nothing to be proud of. Predator hunting has cost me alot over the years.

I once asked a very accomplished taxidermist with whom I was doing some schooling what it took to get as good as he was. Half-jokingly, he kinda smiled and said, "about three ex-wives."
At the other end of the spectrum is a very much in love marrieds couple who have been friends of ours for many, many years. He gets to take off once or twice a year to ride motorcycles with the guys for a week at a time. I asked her once why she let him go on those trips and never complained. Her answer was very simple. She said that once in a while, he loses his smile and has to go find it. Strangely enough, it always seems to be somewhere along those motorcycle trails in the mountains and hollows of the Ozarks because he always seems to find it there and bring it home.

My wife and I will celebrate our 48th wedding anniversary on the 30th of this month. It has lasted this long because of the 50/50 contract we have agreed upon. Her 50 percent is telling me what to do, and my 50 is DOING IT. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)
