I was shopping for some groceries the other day when I ran into my gun plumber, Sam. I told him I was going to be looking to put a new barrel on my new Savage rifle and asked if he'd do the install and such.
He asked me what was wrong with the barrel that came on it.
Isn't that the funniest damned thing you've ever heard.
(I've learned that you can tell a real hunter because he or she has "a doctor", but they also have "MY taxidermist", and "MY gun smith". Some folks have their priorities all right.)

I only own one Savage but have to say that with the way it shoots I completely understand where he's coming from. No need to mess with it.
Do you have the accu-trigger? That thing is amazing for a 21st century factory trigger.

Yes, I do, and yes, it is. I had a conversation on the phone some time back with the Supervisor of Customer Relations and told him that if Savage wanted to make a million dollars overnight, they'd release aftermarket accu-triggers for every other rifle out there.
Fact is, I'm looking at upgrading it to .22-250AI.
One question, borne of repeated comments that doing so will give me problems cycling another round in because of loading issues inherent to that AI shoulder. This is a Model 11 with the center feed magazine. Will there be as much of a problem with center feed versus the offset position of other models, and, if so, does anyone make a barrel with a breech design that causes them to feed more reliably?
