On behalf of the hunters of Colorado, I'd like to express thanks and gratitude to those of you that did the right thing and signed our petition. The proposal to ban prairie dog hunting was solidly defeated by a unanimous 9-0 vote. The various petitions opposing the ban generated almost 8,000 signatures. Your signature helped us win, this time. But the Animal Rights Activists aren't through yet. They are threatening to push this ban onto the November ballot. This will involve a whole different strategy than just signing a petition. I hope we are up to the new challenge.

Thank you, again, from the sportsmen and women of Colorado.

That's all it is; ROUND ONE. Those bastards are nothing, if not persistant. If it goes to a vote, you will lose, every time, and they know it. That's the problem with a democratic vote; they impose their will on the minority, even if it is 49%, and feel pretty smug about it. If they don't have the science on their side, if the professional managers are not believed, if they can project emotion into the question, you will lose. It's a damned shame they abuse the system in the way they do. The Inititive process was never intended to deal with these issues, it should be left to Division of Wildlife, Fish and Game, Natural Resources, whatever it's called, but manufacturing a bogus problem to advance their bunny hugger agenda is dishonest. But it works every time because the people that make the decisions have no guts.

Good hunting. LB

How right you are. To make it even harder, they have a $1.8M bankroll to pay for their TV ad campaign, media ads, etc. We're just hunters and our finances are what's in the bottom of our pocket after buying gas and groceries. [Frown]

Way to go Tom! And thank you personally from me to you for taking the initiative on behalf of sooo many damned lazy folks like myself regarding this issue. You really stepped up to the plate and I admire you and thank you for your personal efforts! [Smile]

Thanks Danny, but the credit goes to the "team" not just one individual. You were on that team, too. So, thank you for your part. [Wink]
