Claimbuster, you may have to post that info over here. Some of us don't frequent that turd bowl over there and some of us can't post there! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Guys, I don’t know if you’ve heard yet, but there is a proposition before the CO Wildlife Commission that would BAN prairie dog shooting in the entire State of Colorado, including on private land. On May 1 & 2 there is a meeting in Grand Junction where the COWC will be hearing arguments against the proposal. If this passes in CO, whose State is next?
If you would like to help us fight this, send me your email address. I will send you our Newsletter and a copy of a form letter to the Commissioners. Our little coalition of concerned hunters is entirely (and openly) unsupported by the PM management.
(edit) I think it's only fair that I explain that the reason for a lack of support has been related to me. The sensitivity about visible endorsement is due to their unfamiliarity in uncharted waters since acquiring their non profit status. Anything that might be considered "endorsement" is scrutinized under a microscope. I was expecting them to instantly jump on the bandwagon with us, and they didn't. This is their reason why. They are looking at other ways to help us, but without being openly supportive. I hope there is such a thing.
We need all the support we can get to fight the bunny huggers. We want to choke the Commissioners email inbox with hundreds of letters opposing this stupid attempt to legislate a ban on small game hunting.
If you can’t show up in person in GJ, then putting your name on our petition is the next best thing. But an army of varmint hunters standing in front of the Game Commissioners on May 1st is a show of force that may prove to be our best defense.
Please get involved. I did. As an added incentive, we're offering free BBQ and beer after the May 1st meeting. I hope you will join us to fight the ARA's. [ April 12, 2008, 01:07 PM: Message edited by: NASA ]

I can't open that link? Says "file not found"

Tom, the above statement was the only reason why I was curious enough to check it out. I'm not surprised and yet; I'm surprised. Under the category of; we all need to hang together or most assuredly we will hang separately, that is a particularly foul attitude.

Okay, they don't like me over there anyway so I guess I don't need to sound diplomatic?
PM has a spineless hands off approach, hiding behind their tax free status.
Well, tax free non profit is nothing more than a racket. They just make sure that they spend all the donations on exorbitant staff salaries, and junkets on their yachts, where they serve the best chardonnay.
Make no mistake, that board is headed in that direction, think Sierra Club thirty years ago, before the infiltration.
Now, they have advertisers and sell crap, to support the cost of the website, right? It don't cost that much, folks. I can speak because nobody but me ever spent a dime supporting HM.
And, they are scared to death of losing their status by taking a stand? Give me a friggin' break. What the hell are they THERE for, anyway? So they can sell hats? A bunch of phonys, I don't give a shit, it's the truth.
Good hunting. LB

Has the Colorado Farm Bureau or the Farmers Union taken a position on this? Have they been involved? I would think that the farmers of Colorado would have a vested interest in something like this and should be involved in a big way.

Bryan, I wasn't aware there was a "Farmers Assn". We've been talking to individual farmers and ranchers (independents). The Corporate farmers and the Co-op farmers just poison and plow. I'll do some more research.
Tim, for all they know, you could be one of those rich AZ guys who comes to CO, hires a Pdog guide, at $1200 a day, for your annual masculinity experience. Hell yes, email them the protest form letter. PD's are just ground squirrels on steroids, anyway.
Joe, data sent and PM answered. Thanks for your support. ![[Wink]](wink.gif) [ April 06, 2008, 07:13 PM: Message edited by: NASA ]

Anybody who has not done so should follow the link above and read the actual petition put together by the opposition. It is near the bottom of the page.
It does not matter if you are interested in this specific topic or not. If you are on dial-up take the time to let the complete doc load, you need to see it.

For any of you that may be incorrectly thinking we are up against a bunch of dope smoking forest fairies, I encourage you to go to this website:
http://www.fguardians.org/
They are well funded, have a large full-time staff and push these types of issues throughout the Southwest.
None of us can afford to sit back and let the "other guy" carry the flag. Please get involved!

Even if you have no interest in that specific sport you need to take time to read the petition that has been filed and consider for a moment how easy it would be to substitute the word "coyote", "crow", or "ground hog" for "prairie dog" and see those favorites go away, as well.
Additionally, this hits on the lead in the environment issue heavily, too. That is a threat to all shooters.
The actual organization behind the petition:
http://www.fguardians.org/
The petition as hosted on the state website:
http://wildlife.state.co.us/NR/rdonlyres...LiveTargets.pdf
I do not want to sound alarmist but if you read the petition you will see that this is a very serious threat. Please allow the whole document to load, there is some interesting stuff at the end.
Even if you don't shoot, if you just enjoy a good steak you need to be aware of these people.

I edited my earlier post about PM's lack of support for this high profile grassroots effort to defeat Pdog hunting in CO. You may want to read it.
