For those trappers out there that might be interested in a great new trap for a great cause X 2 go check this out:
Here is the wrap up of the auction that is going on at the bucket.
This is a noble cause in itself and going to put trappers in a good light.
This is not about which forum it is on, it is about using the National Trappers Association Logo because we have raised enough funds. The effort in itself was one someone should support but here is a link to find out what our efforts are going to do:

Here is a link to the awesome auction:

Help us reach our goal! We only have a few days left to raise about $450.00 dollars.
This is something we can all be proud of being a part of.

Cindy,
Most people aren't allowed to see anything on that site. If you want to make a public announcement, can you give us a link to a public site?

What about Trapperman , we are getting ready to put one on there it is going to be a two day auction, can any view that?
What it is......... is a fundraiser to raise $2500.00 to have the National Trappers Association logo put on the marathon runners tshirt for the Cancer Lymphomia Society, it is a great cause and to put trappers in a good light rather than what the antis are always doing.
I could not think of a better cause to support than the cure for cancer.
If you guys can view that site @ Trapperman, I will post the info when available?
I think you can view it then if you want to bid can register?

I agree curing cancer is a great cause for donation... but it'll be a while before I trust the National Trappers Association with my money. I'd much rather donate directly to the source.
The last donation I made to NTA was to help produce an educational movie... instead it ended up in the bank account of an anti named Wills.
The NTA has dropped the ball on the last three major trapping initiatives to hit Indiana. I'll stick to supporting my local FTA chapters- at least they're trying.
Again no disrespect toward you Cindy or the cause of curing cancer: but DONATE and NTA still raise eyebrows when used in the same sentence around here.

The NTA dont even touch this money.
It goes straight to the Cancer Society:
Here is a link if anyone is interested in bidding on the traps;

As for the donation on the video, you gave that on your own doing and the company that produced the video is who got the money.
As for dropping the ball in Indiana, I have not heard one request nor scene the NTA drop the ball on anything in Indiana.
They have to be approached and asked to be involved.
The NTA like anything has had problems. They are all being corrected.
Look further on the issues you have concerns about. Call me I will be glad to help. But being negative about a National Organization is just not doing any of us any good.

"They have to be approached and asked to be involved."
And that right there is where the real problem with NTA is. Until they get over this mentality, look to see more and more funds going away from them and going the route that Jason talked about. Many feel disenfranchised over the Wills deal, and it will take some time and effort to get them back and into the giving mood again.
A National Org should be LEADING THE CHARGE. Not waiting for someone to ask them to help.
Cindy, this is not directed at you. It is just an observation and NTA needs to address it, and the sooner the better.

I am not going to debate the NTA on here and ruin this forum in fighting. If you have an issue or anyone does as a Director I can be contacted to address it.
As for the mentality it in addition goes both ways. There are how many states in this country and how many issues arise everyday because of the antis?
All state and national organizations need to pull together and work together to use their very limited resources to help with efforts.
If you (NTA or anyone) come into a a state and start pulling rank it has more harm than good.
Everyone needs to communicate work together and advise. It has been proven over this last year alone that works.
The organizations only have so much money the antis have a bottomless pit it appears.
While we divide they conquer.

"Being negative on a National Organization is not going to do us any good"
That's a statement obviously made by someone on the "inside". If questions, doubts and concerns are voiced... perhaps it will drive a change for what is right in the name of Trappers & Fur Takers across the country?
Don't be afraid of starting a fight on this website... of all the fights we see on internet forums: I believe disagreement over our political and public representation is a mighty fine cause to ruffle feathers. It's amazing how many predator hunters in this country don't know about the corrupt representation that's speaking and acting on their behalf.
I agree, divided we fall, but why is it such tabboo to talk about who divided us? It certainly wasn't guys fleshing coons or calling fox: so I'll stick with the FTA until things straighten out in the NTA scene.

No one told you not to stick with FTA , I am a member of both.
"It's amazing how many predator hunters in this country don't know about the corrupt representation that's speaking and acting on their behalf."
Sorry you feel that way.
I dont know you, you dont know me, you know only a one sided thing you have heard.
The auction ends tonight if you dont want to bid on it dont.

Unfortunately we've never met Cindy: but that has little to do with the problems and corruption within the National Trappers Association. I haven't simply heard "one side" of any story and there certainly isn't merely a "thing" that is the culprit!
Indiana's trappers have been burnt by the NTA and the resounding fallout within our state organizations shows we've paid attention. The rubber-stamps for NTA donations are gone and folks are starting to realize just how shakey our political representation has been all along!
Hiring Anti's to handle our future, money gone missing, officers addressing members as "just dumb trappers" and banning a handful of lifetime members for a difference of opinion will not be easily forgotten.
This is certainly not a personal attack on you Cindy, or any discredit toward the cure for cancer... but the inconvenient truth shall surface from time to time or we'll never improve the future.
Sorry to sidetrack the thread, best of luck with this fundraiser:

I hate to say it Steve, but your comments sound like the same ones coming from the people who sat in New Orleans while Katrina hit.
quote:
A National Org should be LEADING THE CHARGE. Not waiting for someone to ask them to help.
A National Organization has no business stepping in to "Fix" a problem on a State level until that State Requests their help.
As for the three Major Trapping issues to hit Indiana, What the hell were they? I keep in almost daily email contact with several trappers there, but sure don't recall even hearing about a single major trapping initiative?
If you think that Cindy may be too close to the "inside" to give us some objective answers to the many claims that have been made against the NTA in the last couple of years, why don't we attract the attention of Scott Huber to this thread?
I've not been active in the NTA for close to ten years, but I first met Scott by attending their meetings. Maybe he can shed a little light on some of the claims that have been made?
I've been hearing all kinds of rumors and innuendos from both sides the last few years as to what happened with the NTA. To be honest, I don't think that either side is telling the full 100% truth. The NTA has an unwritten policy of not publicly airing their dirty laundry. Unfortunately that tends to keep their own membership in the dark as to what is truly going on, leading to mistrust and rumors beginning to spread like a wildfire.
I think that we as trappers all know that the ball got dropped from somewhere with in the NTA. I don't know if that happened due to miscommunication, bad judgment or pure dishonesty and deceit. I would hope that if it were due to miscommunication or bad judgment, that the person responsible would be removed and not be trusted with a position of power, until they have again proven themselves worthy of our trust. If it turns out that the Ball dropper was intentionally dishonest or deceptive to the membership, I think that they should be permanently removed from the NTA and have criminal charges filed against them if applicable.
I've heard a number of claims made against the NTA in recent years, it would be nice for me as a trapper, if I could hear someone from the NTA publicly stand up, and debunk all of the false claims, admit to those claims that were true, tell us what exactly did happen, what the NTA has done to rectify the problem, and what safeguards have they put into place, to be sure this problem doesn't arise again?

Tim,
Maybe you need to get out more!
I am glad that NRA and SCI and USSA do not wait to be asked for help. They are on the front lines, letting the states know what is coming.
Indiana is going through hell right now as we speak.
A DNR that is being influenced and controlled by anti's at the top.
A DNR that is going against IC code. Trying to impose IAC code over the IC code.
The IC code that you helped to get through the Legislature. They are trying to say that you and I cant keep a coyote after the regular season. So much for urine collection.
I could go on with more.
They are in the process of banning the Live Coyote Market there.
Maybe you need to talk to Bill Crum, Chuck Lowe, Bob Wendt, Jerry Joe Barnet, Jerry Schilling, Tim Rose.
And Tim Julien.
These guys are on the front lines right now.
"Unfortunately that tends to keep their own membership in the dark as to what is truly going on, leading to mistrust and rumors beginning to spread like a wildfire."
A huge problem that NTA says they are working on right now.
"I don't know if that happened due to miscommunication, bad judgment or pure dishonesty and deceit. "
All of the above.
