I just received a phone call from an Army buddy. My best friend, James F. Peterson, Major, U.S.A.(ret.)died Thursday night, in Omaha. I will probably attend the funeral Tuesday, not sure at this point?
Here I am, about ready to leave within an hour or so for Nancy's 45th HS reunion. She was chairman of the reunion committee, before she died, and worked very hard in that capacity. My daughter is going with me for support, but the committee has asked us to attend as guests of the class of '62, and I consider it an honor, so I don't have the heart to turn them down.
It will be difficult enough without this sudden, shocking news. Jim was a good guy, and I will miss him, a lot. Except, like everybody else, I suspect that he liked Nancy a lot better than he liked me.
Good hunting. LB

Leonard,
Sorry to hear of your loss of a good friend. If you come to Omaha for the funeral, feel free to give me a call. You are welcome to stay at my home, right across the river from Omaha. Nothing fancy here, but food and coffee are free.

Sorry to hear about your Army buddy Leonard, when things like that happen there are no words.
Leonard, didn't Nancy go to Arroyo High school? And you went to El Monte of course, that is an honor.

Okay, I'm booked. Big hassle. Expressjet airlines flt#72 nonstop arriving 2:57PM Monday.
Rich, funeral is at 10:30 Tues. Morning, if I can find the time, I will call you afternoon or perhaps we can have dinner somewhere? I have not been in Iowa since 1955, I doubt much has changed?
Good hunting. LB

Leonard,
It has changed quite a lot around here since 1955. People with bulldozers have destroyed much of the wildlife habitat, housing projects have been built where favorite deer bedding areas used to be and people in Omaha are shooting each other every day. All of the old historic business places along Broadway were dozed out back in the 1970's to make room for an ugly new shopping mall that has long since failed. We have three casino's here now, and that sure made Omaha's Mayor unhappy. We do have a few good eating joints though, and I think we can find one to suit a couple of old coyote hunters. Give me a call, and we will trade a few lies.
