Coke or Pepsi?

Gatoraid Rain or Frost seems to work best in the desert.

I'm with Leonard. Gatoraide, iced tea, or just good old water. I'll bet I don't drink a Pepsi a month.

Lots of water for me.

If not water, Vitamin Water or Life Water, are the best alternatives I have found. Hardly ever drink soda. Tea, once in a while.

Mainly water.

Nothing quenches my thirst like water. I like Gatorade also.

Gotta have coffee in the A.M. Even when way out in the sticks, I'll carry coffee bags and make me a cup in the morn.

I start the day with a little tea or coffee in the morning to get the "train" moving. Throughout the day, I like water, with a few grains of sea salt in it for the minerals and electrolytes. Sometimes, I'll mix a little Gatorade in with my water. Brewed green tea, iced, is one of my favorites throughout the day. I gave up on soda pop a long time ago - they never seemed to quench my thirst. I'll have an occassional beer or red wine in the evening.

Mt Dew, and lots of it. I'm addicted to the caffeine.

When I was climbing in the desert a lot, I made my own Cheaporade.
Your favorite flavor of Kool-aid, with 3/4 cup of sugar (instead of a whole cup), and a 1/2 teaspoon of iodized salt.

Water, carbs, and electrolites.

The salt makes it feel way more wet and quenching too.

When drinking high carb drinks, slow down, if you drink enough of it quickly, your stomach switches from "drinking" mode, to "eating" mode.
Trying to convert the sugars into energy (or fat), takes away from your body's rate of absorption.

Speaking strictly of canned carbonated soft drinks. And, when beer is not appropriate. Especially eating Mexican food. My far and away favorite is SQUIRT. Followed by Tamarindo.

Good hunting. LB

What is that? Never heard of it.

I dont drink much alcohol. If I do I like scotch or homemade likker. An occaisonal beer is fine. But very little alcohol anymore. I drank my share up until a few years back.

My new year's resolution in year 2000 was to quit drinking carbonated drinks (all sodas). I haven't had one since 1999. Water, tea, and the occasional beer for me.

Tamarindo (drink)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Agua de tamarindo is an agua fresca drink from Mexican cuisine. It is made with tamarind after it has been boiled in water, has had its seeds removed, and has been liquified and combined with sugar. It is typically sold at taquerías in Mexico and in the United States.

Bottled. Some people like it, some don't.

edit: Royal Oaks. It is my (half baked)observation that (some, not all) people that drink a lot of Pepsi, are diabetic. Whether they know it, or not.

Decaf coffee ("worthless warm brown water"), or caffeine free, sugar-free soda ("Worthless cold, brown water") or, of course, water. On days when it gets a tad warm, like the past month, I'll drink as much as 2 gallons of water on my route. With the mornings getting down around the upper 50's, my coffee cravings kick in.

I've heard it said that the artificial sweeteners in many diet sodas are appetite stimulants (aspartame, etc.) and, speaking from personal experience, if I drink diet soda, I tend to get the munchies. I can see the benefit from the standpoint of the people that make it. Drink the soda, get hungry, binge eat, get fat, stay on diet, buy diet soda, drink diet soda, repeat. Must have taken the lead from the tobacco crowd, huh?

Sweetened tea, cold or hot, makes me puke. I can't stand the stuff. Iced tea? No lemon, no sweetener - good stuff.

Lance, it is the high fructose corn syrup. It blocks the bodies 'natural' functions that tell you you are full. Real sugar is more expensive to use as a sweetener, so HFCS is the sweetener of choice by most food companies.

For me, it is water. I buy several trays of bottled water a week and keep them on ice in a cooler on the truck. Of course, I do have to have my coffee in the morning. Maintain

Lots of water here but I do like a couple of Diet Cokes a day as well.

Used to drink high octane Coke but don't handle it so well.

Pepsi is rat poison, Diet Pepsi even worse.

High octane coffee, 365 days a year, 12+ hours a day. No sugar, no cream. Iced tea, no sugar.

About the only time I drink a coke is with a meal or snack

An occasional pepsi, but only if it's thoroughly diluted with Presidente brandy and a wedge of lime. Normal quenchers are unsweetened iced tea, gatorade, and mineral water (Calistoga, when I can find it).

Well, I'm just back from 11 days foray in Northern BC by vehicle and backpack so can comment from recent experience. On the road it was Diet Coke mixed usually with a smidge of lemonade when I could find a 7-11 (100 Mile House, Quesnel, Chetwynd). Once in the bush it was pure water, nothing but, and I stayed with water as my preference on the two day drive back home.

My younger son likes Mountain Dew, and I once packed a one liter bottle 9 miles up a switchbgack trail to him when he'd been hunting alpine for a week and I went up to join him. On that hike I also stopped at a bakery in the last town and bought some maple bars he likes, right out of the oven, and took them along with some Cafe Vienna mix. He still talks about the fresh baked goods and international coffee much more than the Dew.
