Just thought I would add a little something that's somewhat related to Leonards post. With subsidies for the poor, the middle class is being F'd from both sides.

You tube clip on how American companies can disqualify American workers so they can bring in immigrants. These people should be ashamed to call themselves Americans.

Either I'm not American anymore, or something is wrong here?

I spend a lot of time, doing these jobs no American will do.

I've been doing a lot of work lately for a guy who seems to only hire "domestic labor".

My brother and I joked about starting a company called "Buncha Local Boys Construction Services"...
Specializing in services provided by a racially diverse "domestic" workforce.

At least we'd know which side of the line our customers were on, and we could probably sell a fair amount of jobs just on politics.
And we might even make more money on each job.

Hard to say whether we'd end up employing or fighting NAACP and AFLCIO lawyers?

I worked in a meat packing house for 6 years. As you can imagine there are some less than desirable jobs in the plant. I know because I did many of them. When ever a “new hire” showed up a pool was started betting on how long the “college kid” would last. We started with the first day if they made it through the first day and came back to work the next we would buy in again for a week. After the first week we would buy in again for the remainder of his first month. At the end of the month if the kid was still coming to work and nobody had won the pot it was presented to the employee and he was allowed to play if he wanted to. It was interesting that nobody wanted to play if the new hire could possibly be an immigrant. You would be surprised how many times the pot was paid out by the time lunch was over the first day if english was well spoken. They were interested in doing the job until it came time to actually do it. I wonder how many of those kind you have to go through to find someone truly interested in DOING the job. At the packing house 15 years ago it was between 4 and 6.

I think that guys like Krusty and the majority of those reading this are becoming the exception not the rule.

Ahhhh flies, meat, shit, and heat... that brings back memories. [Eek!]

You're probably right Brian, my last boss' son flat out refused to work with us, doing excavating and septic systems, and he would have spent most of his time driving/gophering, and watching.

It was a gravy summer job, I'd have thought was a promotion if I'd gotten it.
Heck, I was still gonna do all the hard and gross stuff.

But on the other side of the coin, I got a kid who lives down the street, comes from a poor family of mixed race, spent some time runnin' with thugs.
Now he's got a kid, and he's on the straight and narrow.
He's a hard workin' dude, and does anything I ask him.
He understands responsibility now.
