9 Charleston Carolina firefighters were killed in a furniture business fire yesterday. 1 of the men were from the city where I work. This is a huge line of duty loss ranking up there with the Worchester 6 a few years back and the 343 members lost on september 11th. Please remember these heros today and pray for their families.

Nine good men lost, while our government spends 10 times more money, per prisoner, in jail, in any given year, then they spend training responders. I have 18 years with my FD, small town, near Tacoma,wa. It looks to me like the anti-terrorist money is aimed putting people on the job rather than putting "trained" people on the job. That frightens me. CD [ June 19, 2007, 08:08 PM: Message edited by: Bofire ]

Bofire, my brother has spent more the 35 years in the LAFD. I always wonder if he is ok or something has happend to him, not a good feeling. He has been hurt a time or two in all those years, done some very brave things most of us wouldn't think of. To me, those folkes still don't get the credit they have coming for doing what they do. God bless them and never forget the ones that gave it all....a tear
