Agree, maybe we need some controversy?
BTW, only wimps use seventeen caliber rifles and your mom dresses you funny.
Seriously, one thing we need is a discussion about dates for the campout, fast approaching.
Good hunting. LB

Im glad I switched to a 20 cal.
Tell me when and where and Ill work it out. Im easy. There aint a deer, elk, or anything else that would take the place of sharing a campfire with this crew.

About the campout - I'm really looking forward to being there again this year. I can help Paul get things ready and do some scouting of the local area, if that helps. As to dates, I'm pretty flexible. Fred

THE MINI-14 IS THE PERFECT COYOTE RIFLE!!!! (Hows that???)
I'm gonna make that campout even if I have to quit my job & move to Arizona to do it.

I don't hardly see the computer lately except to write reports and that makes turning it on work. Leaving the house at 4 am most mornings, busy time of year and all. I been checking in and reading when possible. Andy, when are you headed this way? We had a load of rain. The grass is green and growing fast. If you don't get here soon you aren't going to be able to see a rabbit or prairie dog!

Leonard; I just tried to post in the Campout section down below & got the dreaded 'You do not have permission.....' message. ????
Question; When does fur in the Seligman area prime up enough to be sail-able??
Posted by Paul Melching (Member # 885) on May 10, 2007, 04:20 PM:
I agree on the mini 14 they make great spacers for the gun safe to keep useful tools up front.
Actually Id like to see some proposed dates,I will be there no matter what comes up short of my demise.

Well, I'm going to get to the bottom of this right now. Everybody should have access to the campout forum? LB

Andy L:Im glad I switched to a 20 cal.
Boy Andy that's a bit small to kill something as tough as a coyote isn't it.

Youse guys are affectin' my blood pressure! Everybody knows them pop guns are meant for squirrels.
Good hunting. LB

OK, OK, I'm a wimp! Just took delivery of my second 17AH yesterday. But, that little 20gr. V-Max at nearly 3600 fps sure makes most PD's pretty sick. That's assuming I don't get stupid on the distances.

Hey Lenbo,
Didn't Vic save your bacon just a couple of years ago with a "Sub" caliber rifle? Only a piss poor shot would need anything .224 or larger!
Kokopelli,
You gotta quit smoking that wacky weed before the cops get to you. Take a look at the AZ laws, They throw you in jail here for possessing a peace pipe, but turn you loose for possessing anything under 600 pounds.
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on May 10, 2007, 05:58 PM:
Oh man! Cheap shot, Tim. You saw that coyote, he was dead, but he just didn't know it. But, that's why I maintain, a 6MM just isn't enough gun!
But, he did make a circus shot, no question about it. I wonder if a BB gun would have tipped him over? He took a pretty good hit before he ran off. Them McNeal coyotes are tough critters.
Good hunting. LB
Posted by Tim Behle (Member # 209) on May 10, 2007, 06:10 PM:
A BB gun ( 17 Remington ) in the hands of a capable shooter, tips them over on the first shot, every time.
The only exception is when taking a Texas heart shot. Which is perfectly understandable, as you always have to explain things at least twice to a Texan.

I'm "out there"....people tell me that all the time.
It could be worse tho;I could be dillusional to the point that I think I need a cockroach rifle for coyotes..........
Hi Leonard.

Was that rifle a 6mm Leonard? Christ, by the size of the holes you blew in the several coyotes I saw you execute....I was sure it was a 40mm grenade launcher:)
Circus shot.....what the hell does that mean?
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on May 10, 2007, 08:16 PM:
No disrespect, Vic. It was a hell of a shot; is that better? But, you have to concede, the hole I drilled in that coyote, he should haven died right there. Just one of those things, when you have been around long enough, it still surprises me, now and then. Yeah, that was a head scratcher, for sure.
Good hunting. LB
Posted by Az-Hunter (Member # 17) on May 10, 2007, 08:22 PM:
You got that right Leonard, if only the "bang-floppers" could have seen that coyote, they would have shaken their heads in disbelief!
Some just run, no good explaination for it....they just do.

This is more like it.

Does anybody chamber a Mini 14 in 17Rem?
Posted by RagnCajn (Member # 879) on May 11, 2007, 06:36 AM:
Why would anyone want to ruin the reliability and quality of a Miny with such a piss poor caliber.

I wish 2Dogs would come back and post, I miss his wit and wisdom.....
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on May 11, 2007, 05:46 PM:
Yeah? Well, looks like you have stepped up to the plate and filled his shoes nicely.
Posted by 3 Toes (Member # 1327) on May 11, 2007, 07:35 PM:
I found his info to be an ivaluable assett to your site and I'm not sure what you mean by that remark?
I wish he would get involved in the long range thread also as I believe he has more long range experience than most.
Damn, that was hard to type with a straight face......................
Posted by Leonard (Member # 2) on May 11, 2007, 09:18 PM:
I mean your wit and wisdom is sufficient, but your long range credentials are just average.
Good hunting. LB
edit: that's another thing; you type with your face? What's up with that?

Yes, obviously a finger pecker! Or, are you Scottish? Afraid every word will cost you a quarter? Buy Burris and Simmons scopes because they are cheaper than Leupold? Force the little woman to make her own soap from coyote lard while you spend lavishly on your toys, like a new Dualy. Right? Am I right?
Posted by 3 Toes (Member # 1327) on May 13, 2007, 07:26 AM:
Right! Right up until the dually. Can't get around in a dually. My newest toy is a Freedom Arms 454 Casull. I've wanted one for years, and spied a used one the other day. 6 inch Mag na ported. Had to have it, as I was informed the other day that I would be spending some time in Griz country occasionally. I have also figured out that it is a fine Jackrabbit round for as long as your hand holds up. A 250 grain XTP at around 2000 fps does awesome things to jacks. Although that would not be my choice for a bear bullet.

3Toes, I havent had any experience with the 454,but I have had a little with the 500SW. I wouldnt be afraid with either one.
That damed 500 is like a 45-70, and the one I shot was a 4" bbl, ported. LOUD!!
