this is what Tripod3 wrote : I haven't been around much because I've been down. Although there is room for many jokes & such this is a story that will remind us of the basics. My wife and I went to a new area to call. There was fresh snow on the ground and it was about 12 degrees. we were getting ready to go call a stand at the truck. My wife was to my right a short distance as she loaded her rifle when it discharged. It was loud and shocking. I looked over at her saying you shot me. She dropped her gun in the snow horrified & screaming. It had struck me in the upper thigh shattering the femur. I took off my belt and pulled it tight on my leg at my crotch, then wrapped it half again pulling it with both hands between my legs. She called for help on the cell phone. As many of you may know I am a disabled hunter & often joke about my wife helping me hunt but I count on her. As she kept talking to me and 911 I helped give detailed instructions as to where we were. at 45 mins 2 police officers arrived but were unable to do much except talk to me. At 1 hour fire rescue arrived but we also unable to do much because of my condition. a helicopter arrived at about 1 hour & ten minutes. Eveyone helped put me on some type of stretcher, then load me in the helicopter. I had lost a tremendous amount of blood but my Rivers West pants being waterproof helped hold blood while keeping me warm. I knew that I may die so I made sure to tell everyone that I was not mad at my wife, I forgave her not wanting her to live with more burden. The response teams were straight with me saying it didn't look good. The medivacs were unable to establish an iv, once I looked over seeing him shake his head at the other one. I hung on to the belt hoping to make it. We landed & they immediatly got 7 pints of blood in me. before loading me for another flight , with my wife, to Seattle. In Seattle I recieved 13 more pints of blood and had a series of seven surgeries. Just got home yesterday. The were talking of surgeries in the next 18 months. Yes it hurts, I have never seen a prescription filled for 960 pain pills. I hope to walk again someday. I also have never seen such huge medical bills roll in so fast. Nor have I ever seen such expensive flight tickets. Well I have to eat first then they get money second. There will be a few things to add later. Thanks for reading and have a safe hunting trip.
